Maybe just the cold, but my P/S pump may be on its last legs. I'd rather not fork out the dough for new OEM, so I was considering rebuilding my pump. Here's what the SOR website says:
"Specter does not offer rebuilt power steering pumps. The original Toyota front pump body does not have a replaceable bushing in it. To rebuild the pump correctly, the housing needs to be machined for a bushing and the bushing needs to be honed to match the pump shaft. Rebuilding these pumps this way would make the cost of the remanufactured pump comparable to the new Toyota pump."
Is this BS? Can the pump be rebuilt, and if so, what's the best route?
Or is there another option?
(And Butch, I searched for this, but after sitting staring at the screen for ten minutes while the search function creeped along, I decided just to post the damn question.)
