I am buying tires on friday afternoon and am looking for pictures of an 80 without flares with 285/75/16 tires. my concern is that they will stick out past the fender too much. Any thoughts or pictures?

My Geolandar MTs stick out about 1".

The inch that sticks out, is that side wall or tread? Ever been stopped for it? Does it toss a ton of rocks? Thanks for the reply.

One of our club members has 305's on a flare-less 80. they barely stick out. Sidewall mostly. Maybe a teensy bit of tread. This is on OEM wheels. If you run aftermarket wheels the fitment will vary.

I know its not a 80 but I have 285's on my 100 and they are ALONG ways from the fenders, but the 100's don't have flares(at least not stock)

would think on a flareless 80 they might be just even.

Sidewall sticks out. Never been pulled over.

Not all 285s are created equal.

I busted off one of my flares and I have 305's. About 1/4" of tread sticks out on that side. 285's should be in the clear, but sidewall may stick out.

oh... stock rims too

Thanks for the help guys. I ended up behind the 8ball as my brother was coming into town and was "renting" my 80 for two weeks. I have a buddy with 255/85/16 "mud" tires from Les Schwab on his 80 and he has really loved them so I went that route. My 80 has 255K miles on it so I figured not only will I not have to worry about the tires sticking out, but maybe there will be less stress on the drivetrain with the skinny tire. It drove a million times better than with the old 265 procomp A.T.'s that I replaced. It's amazing what new tires can do. I'll try to post picks when I get a minute. Thanks agian for all the help.
