285 Cooper STT ?

Anybody that has ran these, or has heard anything on them.

let me know. im planning on replacing my LTX's with the STT's.

I couldnt decide between a A/T and a M/T so im going inbetween with the STT.

The STT is considered an MT. Cooper's ST is an all terrain. I had a set in 305/70 on a FJ Cruiser and loved them. They rode great, handled well, did great in rain. I thought them no louder than BFG ATs that were stock on my truck. When off road traction was never a problem. They wheeled great. Ive been told to expect upwards of 40k+ miles in treadwear but Ive never had a set long enough to see.
 
I have coopers on my BJ42 and they aregreat tires.come to think of it I have bought nothing but coopers for years :68 gto[gave to my son],64 Grand prix[sold] ,2000 suby outback[wife],and my cruiser
 
I have a set of cooper st's in 285/65 r18's 6 ply and am very pleased with them. I have about 25k on them and have about half tread left. They were a bit of a pain to balance but are pretty quiet at freeway speeds. I live in Big Sky and drive in snow for about 6 mo of the year and they perform great on snow and ice. They do good in the sloppy stuff too and clean very well with a little speed. I would definetly buy them again and am going to put apair on my 05 Taco as soon as my worthless goodyear at's wear out.
 
Good manners on the road, great wet weather traction, wonderful off road as well. I will be buying them again as soon as finances prevail.

Not to rain on your parade, but poking around a couple tire sites, I can't find the STT. They've got the STT Tek3 on Discount Tire, but don't show a 285/16. Cooper's main site doesn't even list the STT at all.

I run 285/75/16 and I love them. They are a large 33 tire compared to BFG's.

I would buy them again.
 
They look like a damn mean tire. For there price vs. The bfg's. They are extremely attractive. After reading the average life span is between 40-50k miles, that seems very good for a tire if that nature

That was the initial feedback I got when I bought mine but I got 10K on the 4Runner and they are still on the F250 I Put them on. Sooo some applications might get more.

10K??? Maybe I'll rethink these tires. The 100 is heavy and has a v8 (duh), that = fast wear

Whats your driving style?

My rig is about 7500/year. Not a lot of miles a year anymore. So 30-40K will last a long time.
 
They go really quick (wear) on the diesel pickups running around up here. I think they look like a decent tire for the money.

They are made in the states. I guess the new thing for tire companies to do is make the tires here with imported Chinese Rubber.

I think rubber compounds are changing in a lot of the tires people are using. My Toyo MTs on my 80 wore like iron but I have friends with the newer sets that aren't getting the mileage out of them that I did. And they removed the 50k warranty.

If you want an in between tire I was checking out the new Goodyear MTR yesterday. It is like and MT with an AT tread set to the inside a little. Another sort of in between tire is the Pro Comp Xtreme AT.

And since you are looking at Coopers you may as well look at Pro Comps, Mickey Thompsons, and Dick Cepek. They are all Cooper made tires. You might get a better price on them.

No no they will last longer than 10K assuming your not a street racer.

I'm pretty sure my friend now owns shfd739's FJC and the STT's are a pretty good tire. They shed GA red clay pretty well and are surprisingly quiet on road, only slightly louder than a BFG AT. They seem to be wearing pretty well, but I have no idea how many miles he has put on them. I can say from riding in his rig and wheeling with him, that they are a good compromise between a BFG AT and a BFG KM2, especially consdering the price.
 
Well, GA clay is a test for any tire. The clay is so sticky and extremley thick.

As for wear, price, agressiveness, etc, the tire is definatley a good buy. I'm not 100% sure I need a tire this aggressive though. But who cares! Theycwill be better than the michelins ( I'll never put them back on).

Is it the all white with black Pro Comp wheels? Had a bunch of stickers on it. How is that truck holding up? I had with it. Tell him to send me some pics.

They did great in our thick south alabama mud also. I wasnt sure at first about them on a daily driver. After having them though I was glad I did. Sand, loose dirt, mud all no problems and the road manners matched the BFG ATs I had first.

I would take these over KM2s. They are the same offroad with better road manners and price.
 
Firefighter stickers right? If so, then ya. He's on here every once in awhile, can't remember his user name though. The rig is holding up great, the only thing was some clutch bearing that need replacing, but Toyota did it under warranty (though they blamed it on mud and water:D)

I have to say, you have very good taste in picking out mods. He has been loving every minute of having it and i have enjoyed riding in it and wheeling with him.
