Yep, I'm waiting on my final 16" rim as well. Looking forward to your paint job. I'm figuring on dura-coating or plastidip color on them. what do you think?

My plan is to powder coat them, all a bit difficult since I bought the rims in Germany and will have them shipped to Taiwan when ready.
No rims available here.
Of course plastidip seems a good choice and has the advantage to be removable.

Current Project: 2000 UZJ 100 with Cooper ST/Maxx 255/85R16 on stock 16" Rims. OME/Slee 2.5" Heavy suspension. Wheels are sanded, primed and painted with Satin Black Rustoleum.

Looking good Sherman! Do you have a build thread? What’s the paint (dip?) color?

Thanks. Haven't done a build thread on this one-yet. It's Monstaliner in Desert Sand. Slee rear bumper, ARB front. OME/Slee suspension; Front Runner roof rack. On board air; dual battery; Safari Snorkel; Smittybilt X20 winch; Slee sliders and skid plates to be installed. Dometic fridge and slide to be installed... still need to paint remaining trim and lots of little stuff.

I added a set of these tires yesterday. What air pressure are you running?
On both the 80 and 100 we are running at 45psi street and between 18-20 psi off road.

I’m running 32 in mine on road. Haven’t seen anything worth airing down yet. 45 psi must ride like a rock!

Pretty stiff, but rides nice with the new OME suspension. I've run them at 45 on the 80 series for a couple years also.

I noticed BFG recently added this size in the KM3. When I checked last month it had not been released.

Is it fair to assume that running a narrower tire on the 8 inch rim is more likely to result in scraped wheels than a 285? Is bead braking a concern when aired down if BFG puts 8" at the top end of allowable?

I would assume that with so much sidewall (more than 1" more sidewall than my identical diameter 275/70/18), when deflated, the tire would bulge more than enough to protect the bead. I've done some pretty serious rocky passes on mine deflated down to 20psi and the bead has been damage free thus far.

I run the same size on stock 8" rims and it's never been a problem. I do want to switch to 70 series 7" rims in the near future though.

Ive no wandering, however it does take some getting used to.

Prefer 255s over 285

What is there to get used too? Looks? More responsive turning?
Thinking about being irresponsible and swapping my 265/75/16 Ko2’s for some 255/85/16 in Geolandar G003 or cooper STT Maxxs on a stock LX.

Cheers,
Erick

I'm really liking the Coopers on my 80 Series (285/75-16). Starting to think I should have put them on my Wife's LX470 also.
