Anyone running this combo? Got a helper leaf in the rear otherwise it’s stock. Tried a 285/75R16 and didn’t seem to rub. It’s a size be always been interested in but there’s a really poor choice here. Only three or four options in the country, and generally Nill stock of most of them. Seriously thinking getting a set of DC extreme countries

I will be, I have a set of toyo's, now I'm trying to find rims.

Owyhee jackass is running this size
Nice, which Toyos? We only get MT on that size but I believe you can get M55fs?. I’ve got 8” sunnies, on the wide side but at least the sidewalls will be nice and straight

With an 8” rim you better stick with the 285 , 255/85 16 fits perfectly on the stock 6/16 or 6.5/16 wheels and I have ran them on several 70 series . If your front springs are still in good condition you should be good

It’s in the spec of the Tyre though, im not planning on running super low pressure, and quite like the straight (not bulged) sidewall. Not keen on the width and weight/bulk/rolling friction of the 285 and the gutless 1hz either

Si. I have 255/85/16 on stock rims and have no issues.

Ive had a bunch of 80 series and I preferred the 7x16 rims (rather than 8x16) for 285/75/16 tyres, so as to keep the side walls in a bit, and less exposure. In the bush and grass where you cant see all the time, the side walls can cop a hammering.

So I recon the 255s on 7" rims, (or 6,5) that would be perfect.

Thanks guys, nice rig onur- the tyres look great. But wouldn’t running a wider rim give better sidewall protection as its bulging out less - giving less rim protection

Thanks guys, decided to go ahead. Got the Dicks fitted today, love them so far. Was frustrated to find out they’re only a 2 ply sidewall though even though the fun countries are 3. Supposedly they’re “high tensile” plies and as strong as 3 with better flex. We’ll see, I’m hard on sidewalls... if I trash them I’ll track down a set of God’s Own Tyres (Toyo MT) - just hard to come by

Just curious, do you have rubbing between tyre and tie rod using these tyre sizes??
