Works for me. Right under the image of the yellow jeep is the tab for the trail description/rating.

Trail requirements are found under trail information and the schedule is determined when registering. You can look at schedules before committing.
I am going to try to run 6-8 rated trails if I get around to registering before they are all filled up. From personal experience in the area 8 and up are probably buggy trails. Green Canyon is the trail that I am most interested in, it had already filled up on everyday but Wednesday as of last week. Green Canyon is still available for Friday also

Great help:cool: dont know how I missed it

Do wildcat runs of the full trails happen?

Popular dont want to miss 80 friendly trails?

Just registered. Being new at this sport, I picked some easier stuff: Wed - Ready,Set,Jeep 1; Thur - Northwest Loop 2; Fri - Outer Loop 3 and Sat - San Diego Peak rated at 4. Probably wont see any of you guys on this stuff but perhaps we can tip one back afterwards. Let me know if anybody ends up attending.

Any experience with the camping situation during this event? The Rally and Caballo State Park campground both appears to be FCFS.

Elephant butte state park is about 20 miles north with unlimited primitive camping if there is not an area available at Caballo.

There is primitive camping available at Caballo Lake. Looks like 100+ electric sites will be available along with primitive beach camping so it should cover most of the crowd. There are also a few RV parks in the immediate area.

There are also several options in TorC for motels

OK, I'm committed. Started out easy and worked my way up.

Wednesday Trail: Rattler 5

Thursday Trail: Breath Taker 7

Friday Trail: Green Canyon 8

Saturday Trail: The Narrows 8

You should be good on all the trails up to 8's although you may start to see body damage above 7's. We as a group have run the Apache Canyon trail (6) and Caballo Rim via Palomas Gap (3). Apache Canyon is very doable in an armored 80 on 33"

Kool. I am going to head to Caballo based on the 100+ electric sites stat and being Tuesday night there will be few "weekend" campers. Gettin my Hundy this week from Slee's. Can't remember being so pump about a vehicle.

Plenty of trails for 33" tires and down, and plenty more for 35" tires and down. Which is where I will be playing. October is a great time of the year in southern NM so come on out and play.

Registration ends October 7th.

For trails rated 1-3: This is a great place to start out and meet new people

• stock 4WD vehicles
• tow hooks required

For Trails Rated 4-6: Virtually everybody on this forum, and I mean everybody, qualifies here

• at least 33” tires recommended
• front and rear tow hooks required
• recommended - lockers or limited slip diffs
• working winch recommended - required for Level 6

For Trails Rated 7-8 and this aint no step for a stepper

• one solid locker required
• recommended - front and rear lockers

Now I know what they mean by sliders!

Not too many yota out here - feel like a minority but liken it. Some of these jeep guys were impressed that my luxury hundy could do some of this stuff. Not sure if this link will work. Check it.

that looks great! good job diving in and going for it!

Last day I did a #4 rated trail - San Diego Pass. The leader said that it should be rated a 6 or 7. Apparently there has been some major rain down here and things got a bit more washed out.

I am getting a nice patina on the paint and got my first war wound on the back driver door panel - oh well - get out the touch up!

Here are some pix of the Chile Challenge - hope this link works

great pics, Larry, thanks for sharing

It was good to see you out there Larry, sorry we didn't get a chance to drink a beer. Everyday but Saturday was a very late day.

Here we go:

Rattler... Day 1, stage 3, CB channel 27, departure time of 8:30

just cruising along

some bigboy rigs

The start of the trail/actually the end of the trail cause we ran it backwards

My FJ40 brethren... Stepmur, from the Copper State Cruisers

my junk

helping a FJ Cruiser on 285's get through the rattler. We drug him through a class 7 trail also on the first day

Green Canyon from the top of Breathtaker

Green Canyon/Cabin... day 2, staging area 7, trail rating 8, CB channel 40

First boulder field

one bad ass Toy on 40" stickie treps

another Toy

6.4L JK, I counted at least 7 of these $70,000+ JKU's on 40's with "hemi's"

our tailgunner, Tim

The Cabin trail

I don't have any pics of the carnage from the Cabin run but the count as I remember it just from Thursday was, 1 broken Dana 60 spindle, 1 broken TJ draglink, 1 broken JK rear track bar, 1 broken xj rear axle shaft and 2 flops on the 7'+ waterfall exiting the trail. This was just a rated 8 trail? They did manage to get everybody off the trail by dark or a little after.

Green Canyon/Unnamed access road... day 3, staging area 7, trail rating 8, CB channel 10

day 3 had us back in green canyon as our primary run. We had a group of Jeeps out of Phoenix and another group out of El Paso. All of them well built and ready to crawl

No pictures of the unnamed access road, I was to busy negotiating all the waterfalls and 4' boulders to take pictures. Turns out that it is the road to Bone, Frame Twister and the Minefield with a shortcut to the top of Cabin that the buggies use to keep from having to go out the long way, its a 9.
