I have an 86 RET 5sp. 4x4 PU that needs a tear down my Q is because of time and I need somthing running now, do you think a 22RE (9.3:1 ??) it will live with a 7psi turd blow?

7psi is nothing, (NMO) and I think boost only comes on at high rpm, so dont think it will kill the motor (higher comp one) at low rpm,

I think I have a block and would have the head done along with a solid Fel-Pro or copper HG.

I also have RET head's RET blocks 22re heads and blocks has anyone ever mix match??? Results???

RET is 7.5:1, so room to work...........

Oh, and know will require hightest.

The RE blocks do not have the oil feed and return line provisions drilled... the bungs are there, you may be able to drill and tap them, just make sure you get all the shavings out. :D

The RTE head has larger CC chambers, so it would probably drop the compression on an RE block and things would live well well enough on premium fuel. Just keep it cool. Others may disagree...

Plan on going through the pan, thanks!!

Thanks thats what I'm thinking, although VERY contemplating FULL 22RE :D Go big or go home! I swear I heard somewhere that there isent even ANY boost till you kick it. AKA the light comes on.

Low RPM, driving Mrs. Daisy = No boost

Kick it, and bamm!!! Were off to the races!!

3 core, in store :D

Colder T-stat for sure, and rear swaybar!!(mabie even a panhard bar :grinpimp::grinpimp:)

My way o-sayin bimpity bump :D

For your radiator I would go to Ron Davis.

I would put in a traction bar before worrying about that stuff. Sounds cool though. Keep posting.

I'm getting the two turbos I got confused, the panhard is for the 4Runner, need it to handle better than off-road.

Also think the 22RE combo would live better behind the AT again sorry I am getting the two confused.

sorry my bad

7 psi on re is fine, tuning can yeild bit more.

remember 22 rte is later block, short with taller head, so watch your mix matching.

dont count on doing anything with your RTE head till it is tested, got a few here didnt make the grade.

ended up with a RTE long and RE head, stock TURBO does fine. stock truck not going to be anything special.

22 and heat issues is new to me, done hundreds, sounds like more of common mantaince issues. IE radiator plugged either inside or outside. And i actually have had more issues with running too cold for long periods, so i do not reccomend a low temp thermostat.

IMO no reason to spend $$$ on a RE just to do 7 psi, run it if and when it pops then do a rebuild, Cheap guy sells RTE pistons think they are hyper for $150ish on the bay, put a RE head back on and GO. OR build another motor on the side, when the other pops plug and play.

been a bit on the RTE stuff. getting out of 22 stuff due to $$$ per no HP. and newer stuff is much better.
