I replaced the OEM tires on my 2020 HE with Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 285x65x18. I need to put the correct spare tire size in the underside cavity before I get a flat.
My two questions are:
1. Will the 285x65x18 fit in the underside spare tire cavity?
2. Any recommendations for an inexpensive spare tire in 285x65x18? It would only be used for emergencies. It won't be rotated with the Grapplers.

Thanks in advance for your assistance here.

I can't confirm this will fit but I am pretty sure it will. I have 275/70R18 which fits. Mine are about 1/2" larger in diameter, but a little narrower. The 285/65R18 are a pretty common upgrade and I haven't heard of any issues.

Try a used tire shop for the spare. I picked up a almost new, couple year old Cooper Discovery AT3 for $80 installed. I am only doing 4 tire rotations and didn't want to spend $250 for a matching Toyo AT3 as a spare.

Anything up to a 34.2" diameter tire will fit so a 285/65R18 at 32.5" will be a breeze.

Choose your pick of any tire. Though if I can appeal to you to get a matching tire with matching capability, in the off chance you'll need it on vacation far away from home. One less thing to be concerned with to getting a tire fixed or replaced that matches after that. What is ultimately a trivial cost difference to match, especially compared to overall cost of the vehicle.

I run a 275/70/18 under mine which is a 33.2x10.8x18 so the shorter and only slightly wider 285/65/18 should fit without issue.

285/70/17 with no issues tucked. Running full matching wheel and tire size for the eventual rear carry / LRA tank.

Just for good measure, LT285/75R17 Toyo ATIII (mfg spec'd at 33.99") also fits without issue.

I took your recommendation and put the same Nitto ridge grappler on the stick rim for the underside spare. It easily fit in the underside hole. Thanks again for your info.

I just recently purchased my 2017 LC200 and the tires were upgraded to a 34/12.50/r18 without touching the spare. My question is can I fit that tire on a stock rim and will that fit in the stock location underneath. The spare will only be used in an emergency. Thanks in advance for the help
