Thanks so much for the information. I will spend next week visiting my parents and might start with the upgrades the week after. I will post some update on progress.

Here’s the high level diagram from the sub thread
@grinchy wondering where / how you pulled a clean signal from the factory head unit? Did you manage to get one before the factory amp? Trying to decide how to pull one that's pretty clean before sending it into a DSP (using JL VXi amps)

I have an LX570. The Mark Levinson system is different than the JBL TLC system. The ML system does not use the MOST bus, and has a low level stereo and coax digital signal available at the amp (or behind the HU, if you want). Aside from the limited space available to put amps, the system is trivial to build on. The amp is on the canbus, so you do lose any volume/balance control over the HU (and steering wheel audio control) if you don't replace the canbus integration, but most DSP / Amp solutions perpetuating the factory volume and balance control is not a concern.

The JBL TLC uses MOST, which is encoded at the HU, and decoded at the Amp. As such the only access you probably have is post amp hi level signals.

It may be possible to get a MOST decoder for another Toyota vehicle (or another vehicle). To my limited knowledge no one has tried. There have been some significant dealer installs of audio, which looked to me to be pre-amp, but no technical info has been made available on these.

@Eric Sarjeant how did your stereo installers integrate these systems into the JBL head unit?

I’m hoping to have a solution that gives me a signal that’s before the factory amp. Although given JBL encodes the signal at the head unit unclear if there is really even any alternative

Does anyone have any experience with one of these aftermarket head units? #EricSargent

I'm desperate to find a better looking, larger screen for my 2015 200. I have looked at at 100 options and I'm blown away that there isn't a good fit for the LC. I have the GROM, it's ok, but I really want a full touch screen that looks like it fits perfectly.

apologies for being late to reply here- i have successfully upgraded my 2014 LC, integrating an audiocontrol DSP, two 4-channel amps and a sub amp. I took a highlevel signal post factory amp by purchasing T-harness that plugged right in and allowed me to grab high level signal to feed into the DM810. DM810 then feeds into the amps, and speaker outputs from amps go back to the T to utilize factory speaker wire. i've posted some pics throughout this forum and i think someone even took a screenshot of a review i wrote on crutchfield for the DSP. LMK if you ended up being successful or stuck with the audio mod.

@grinchy appreciate the insights!

After month's of planning this week the 'ole cruiser's finally getting the audio system upgraded! During this research process I learned our 200s have an incredible foundation to build a really sweet stereo thanks to some excellent mid-range & tweeter placements up front. Also learned there's not really a great way to catch a clean signal with the factory nav system; boo.

To solve for pulling a clean signal, and an active crossover setup, I ended up going with a Mosconi Pico DSP. This will allow the use of multiple tunes (driver-focused, family's in the car, SPL-oriented, etc).

The front 3-way stage will be Illusion Audio's Carbon series with a set of 8" mid-bass to replace the factory 6x9s. Power will come from a JL Audio VXi 800/8 amp.

The sub setup is going to be dual 18" Fi car audio IB3s configured in an isobaric setup (here to learn more). Power will come from a JL Audio VXi 1000/1 amp.

Wiring will be a combo of products from KnuKoncepts & JL Audio.

Sound deadening is a combo of 4 products covering the entire cabin including the headliner & floorpan; Blackhole tiles, ResoNix CLD squares, ResoNix Barrier, & ResoNix Fiber Mat.

In terms of tuning will have a baseline tune before it's delivered this week. At some point in the future will then head over to a specialist's shop to get it dialed in to IASCA-level quality ... STOKED!

Will post pics once I can get up to the shop.

Sounds awesome. Did you find a product that can decide the MOST or is this going to pull the signal after the JBL amp?

Going to have to get it after the amp unfortunately. It won't be perfect BUT happen to know an IASCA judge who's doing the install / tune. He believes the Mosconi can pretty much solve for the challenge it just will take a bit more time vs. something to sum the signal (like a PAC-audio product).

This has to be epic! How did the install / outcome go? any pics / sound clips? Thanks!

This post in another thread gives a summary. The thing that really made the difference was the Resonix sound deadening / cabin noise reduction effort. At 85mph my truck is only 1 dB louder compared to a LX600 F-Sport (71 vs 70 db). Once I line the wheel wells to kill the A/T tire whine it’ll be even better.

Mozart zlink was used to create CarPlay with factory touch screen. A good signal came from there that was further cleaned up with the Mosconi before heading to the JL VXi for active tuning each channel.

There is like a 12dB cut on some lows the 18s produce some serious pressure
