Hi all, does anyone else own both a Land Cruiser (2020) and a limited 4Runner (2016)? I have noticed that the steering of my 4Runner has much less resistance than that of my newer Land Cruiser. When turning into parking lots, I can pretty much only use a single finger to make turns on my 4Runner. On my Land Cruiser, I feel at least twice the resistance, and it feels a bit stiff.

The Land Cruiser was purchased as certified used silver a few months. I have one year of power train warranty. I'm not sure if this is how they drive or if something is off with my steering.

I would love to hear the experiences of others who own both a 5th Gen Limited 4Runner and a 200-series Land Cruiser.

The Land Cruiser does have a heavy steering feel. I can't make the exact same comparison as you, but we have a 2022 Sequoia that is very easy to steer, much easier than my 2016 LC.

Thank you for your feedback. I wonder why that is. Does your 2022 Sequoia have hydraulic steering and full-time 4-wheel drive? That's what I have on my 4Runner and it's smooth. Apparently Land Cruiser has the same 4 wheel drive and hydraulic suspension.

No, our Sequoia is 2WD.

I had a 2013 4runner limited and now a 2011 LX570. I recall steering feeling much lighter in the 4runner.

The 200 is known for its heavy steering. That’s just how Toyota tuned it.

For the Tundra/Sequoia/4Runner, there’s much more rotation in the steering to make the wheel turn to full lock, and I expect that’s a big reason why the steering is lighter in these platforms. The LC is doing a lot more actualy turning of the wheel in relation to the steering wheel moving.

You get used to the heavy steering overtime and I actually like it now.

It's a preference. Typically, American vehicles have light steering, European heavy steering and Japanese in-between. I think all US LX570's came with VGRS (Variable Gear Ratio Steering) but I don't think all LC200 did. Something to look into maybe for you.

It’s about time you got up:rofl:

I can confirm- coming from a 5th gen 4Runner to a LX570, I also thought maybe something was wrong at first because of how heavy the steering was. Now I don’t notice it at all and I actually like the steering feel of the LX.

LX is much lighter than a Land cruiser too.

Same here. The wife drives a 4Runner TRD Pro and it is night and day from my 200HE. Needless to say, I prefer the hefty of my 200.
