Has anyone had a professional upholstery shop replace the leather on their steering wheel? I like the look of the wood and would like to keep it if possible, however my leather is looking worse by the day.

The local auto upholstery shop quote me $150 and you can just bring in the car, no need to remove the wheel.

Here's mine with the same product. Did this last year with no signs of wear. It does take some time, patience, and beer to put on.

Loncky cover arrived last week. Will undertake this project in the coming weeks to hopefully mitigate any steering wheel wear before it becomes a problem. Just need to find the time, and some beer, for the install.

Loving this Loncky leather cover after a year of use.
This is much better leather than the original Toyota leather and is a huge upgrade.
My Loncky cover has perforated leather on the sides and smooth leather on top and bottom....resembling the Lexus F-sport wheel on the LX600.

has anyone tried removing the OEM leather and then installing the Loncky?

Wonder if the transition from the leather to the wood would look more seamless if you did it that way....

tempting

Curios too. I like the wood and this would be a good compromise.

My '19 is already showing wear. That didn't last long.

Honestly the transition between the wood and leather is not that significant, you would be the only one that would notice.
I covered a perfectly new and unblemished wheel because I was not a fan of the fake wood, otherwise I would have bought the LX.

good to know....starting to look better and better

Is it possible to sand the affected areas smooth and recoat with SEM paint? I've done that on worn/scratched leather steering wheels in the past, and it looked perfect for years. (I just re-colored my Loncky wrap with SEM too.)

No experience with trying to fix a delamination issue though.

My 2017 has similar issues. I think it really started appearing with the alcohol gel use, so I try to be very careful with that too. When I sold my 95’ 80, the steering wheel leather was also in better shape. This stuff on my 200 is extremely sensitive. I’ve nicked accidentally with just a finger nail…
I would imagine the 80's and 100's would also start peeling too because of hand sanitizer use.

Unless 80/100 owners all don't use it at all and 200's series owners are the only ones using it...

I think the leather is different and sucks and the sanitizer use worsened it.

I hardly use it but I've had pieces of the paint peel off onto a sweaty palm. Thiink it's much worse in the heat.

I've thought of just rubbing it all off and making it look like a Ferrari Alcantara steering wheel. Bet it would add 10hp....

I have a 2016 LC and wife has a 2014 LS 460. The wheel peeled on the LC but the LS that wheel stayed perfect. I wonder was a different material used on the Lexus LS, it seems very similar however is better.

2016 LC 80K miles. Exact same issue. Very ugly, and it irks me constantly. Toyota really should replace this at no cost. But, as others have noted, the US was a low-volume LC market, and now is a zero-volume LC market. I think I will go to an upholstery shop. I’m just afraid they’ll do bad stitching, etc.

Shameless plug, I’m selling a mint 2021 wheel for $200.

I had Craft Customs replace the leather on the steering wheel, while it did take 3 weeks I can say it looks amazing! Ill upload some pictures later
Interested in seeing the final product and how it’s holding up so far. Can we get get a pic? Thanks!
