I am looking at a 2014 luxury with 172k miles. As far as I can tell this the highest mileage 2014+ model for sale in the US. It is a one owner, southern truck, priced at 21,500. I currently have a 2007 gx470 and was looking to upgrade. Does this mileage concern you? Outside of the obvious things to look for (timing cover leak, valley leak, valve cover leaks, ect). I wasn't in the market for a 460 8 months ago, so I'm unsure as well if the price is inflated. Thoughts?

I am not in the market so I cannot speak on price or anything for that model. However, I wouldn't really be concerned of a unit with that milage if it was cared for, or no glaring red flags were present. However, I owned several yota engines that all ran to just south of 500k miles, so I don't think I look at the engine milage much...

Hummm... I think your question may be more budget related. If this is all you can afford, and you can either fix the issues or afford to have them fixed, then get it.
If you're not in a hurry and can stretch the finances a wee bit more, wait for what you want, preferably with no problems.

It's tempting being a one owner, but I may wait and see what else pops up. 20-22k is my range.

I wouldn't be concerned about the mileage being that it's a one owner if the maintenance history is up to date. I think for a few thousand more you might be able to snag something with 30-60K less miles, you just have to be patient and keep your eyes peeled. These things don't last very long on the second hand market and right now they are really hot so they are moving even faster.

Yup, they go super quick. I would be hard pressed to find a luxury for a few grand more, unless it's a 2010-2013. At least not within a few hours of my area.

Yea if you're set on a luxury then it'll be slim pickings regardless of the year model. I wouldn't let that be a factor personally.

I'm just curious - why the focus on Luxury? If you're planning on lifting, you'll take out the air suspension so the biggest part of the Luxury will be removed.

Lift won't be my initial focus, ride comfort will. I may lift in a few years. But I see your point.

I wound up with a '16 Luxury, and after removing the air and adding the lift I believe that unless you are after the plushest of rides the air bags are of minimal value.

If I was going all out to locate a Luxury I would probably find a rare Driver Support Package model. If Options on Luxury aren't that important then just get a Premium. A base may work for some as well but '17+ base can't be optioned with 3rd zone HVAC.

Example '14 difference between trims as well as option packages.

@Jminz - I took the plunge yesterday buddy. i was on the hunt for a GX470/460. Given the market is so hot right now, i couldnt find a good one in the LA area and whole of Cali. My dealer informed me of a new arrival and i grabbed it on the spot.

2010 GX 460 Premium / Black Onyx exterior and black interiors / 168K miles / One owner, well maintained / All service records were available and was serviced at the same dealership thru out. Price was non-negotiable ( seller's market ) . I paid $16.8K plus taxes. It's just been a day, but I feel good. Maybe I would have been happier paying ~$15Kish....but the dealer wouldn't budge even $50 less...

Still sounds like a fair deal. Congrats and welcome to the club!

I'm in SoCal too. How's the GX market compared to last year (that's when I bought mine)??

The GX market in these COVID times is crazy and super hot. GXs with good service records dont stay on the lot for more than 3-4 days on an average. Ppl are blindly willing to put down a deposit even before the inspection. I lost two good ones( LA & Portland) just coz I hesitated to put a deposit before doing an inspection.

I got my GX because I wandered in and just happened to ask if the Toyota dealer had any and they just got one in that day which had not been detailed or anything. While I was looking at it 3 other people showed up and were lurking around waiting for me to leave. It was what I was looking for so put a deposit on it and told them I would buy if all looked good after a detail. Before that missed out on a handful that were reasonably priced. I was looking for something with under $50K miles though, not sure what pricing is like on ones with higher mileage.

Good job pulling the trigger!
Sounds like you would have lost it if you doddled over it.

Congrats @vandir!! The GX secret is all just about out folks. Be prepared to see a steady rise in value nearer to LC / LX territory.

I’m thrilled to of gotten our GX470 unicorn and now my great GX460. We are already in territory of making money on these if we would sell them—not that we would mind you.

I've been curious to see if we see a rise in value on them.

To the OP, $21,500 seems a tick high in my opinion, and I was shopping January/February 2020 and kinda had a feel for the market, so either the market has changed that much or it's a little too high (in this one guys honest opinion). I was seeing 120-140K mile 2013-2014 for $20-$22K. My 2010 base with under 100K was several thousand less.
