Your low beams are the HIDs. Did you mean the Highs? If so many have done it but I didn't like the glare that the more blue light created, personally. I went with Phillips HIR bulbs in the high beams and love them. Same color as stock but significantly brighter.Has anyone tried to switch the 35 Watt ballast to 55 Watt?? What about Led in the lows?
I am racking about the low beans. I upgraded the lights to the Phillips but still want more wattage. I was not sure if you could add a 55 watt ballast and bypass the OEM.Your low beams are the HIDs. As for the ballasts.. it would be a challenge. Not sure whether you've looked at them, but they are shaped in a way that they seal up the rear of the housing. I think making a new cover to replace them would be difficult to get right and seal out water/dust.
Some of us have run the Philips Xenon X-treme vision Gen-2 D4S bulbs.. supposedly make 50% more light, and I can tell you they are a significant improvement over the already good stock lamps. Part number I ordered is 42402XV2C1
They bolt right in to the factory spot and simply produce more light. Not very cheap but totally worth the money, IMO.
