I am up to 80% in. If I can leave around 1pm Friday, google tells me it is about 11.5h and 600 miles going the east route down CA. Who knew it would be so close? Either I'll find somewhere to pull over and sleep or push through. The diesel is pretty quiet at idle so it shouldn't disturb sleepers. ;)

My research has led me to finding some 10 Barrel and Ft. George in a variety along with a small pack of Black Butte Porter (you guys should be able to get that locally!).

Look for me around the 62. If I'm not around, the fridge is in the middle behind the tuffy with cold beer in it, so help yourself, and restock it if cold supplies are low.

If you do 2m/HAM, what frequencies do you usually use in that area?

The 62 will look like this minus the fluff-run rack.

Co-Driver Wanted. Will exchange cooking or guide to Sourgrass.

Heading in Friday night. Got a buddy in an FJ Cruiser that can leave the Bay Area on Saturday but he's looking for a co-driver that can drive stick or somebody he can caravan with. He gets off his from his 12 hour shift at noon on Saturday and he's afraid he'll fall asleep if he drives up by himself. Let me know if you know anybody on the Peninsula that is looking for a ride up that can help him stay awake. The pay off is he is one hell of a cook and he knows the trail so if you need a guide, here ya go! He is planning on leaving on Monday. (BYOB Bring Your Own Banjo)

Is his name Chad?

I was planing on leaving early in the morning, but I guess it wouldn't be too bad if I got a few extra hours of sleep. (I work the late shift weekdays) Let me know what his plan is when he figures it out.

We will be heading in Friday midday via 12/4.

Are there going to be t-shirts? Do it yourself t-shirts? We can pick up some blanks on the way in.

Peter

Yes, we're doing shirts again this year. I'll have them with me.

Ps: glad you're going to make it Peter!!!!!

I'll be staying in Arnold with the family and some friends, anyone mind if we crash the party for a few hours on Saturday or Sunday afternoon?

Haven't been down to the camping area before, is there enough room for everyone to spread out and have a somewhat private spot? Thinking of picnic lunch/swimming and fishing in the river, but don't want to intrude if people already have their spots staked out.

Well Georg I was planing on going but the FJ40"s motor is a no go. Haven't been able to get it running wright for weeks . Sucks

What's wrong with it? I have parts .....

Come on in, the water is warm!

Update:

Raffle prizes are still showing up. Thanks again to all the vendors, re-sellers, supporters and fellow cruiser shop owners!

And I just picked up the t-shirts from the printer. I don't have a wife or GF and I'll certainly won't subject you to me "modeling" a shirt so you'll have to wait till the event. I got 60 shirts made. If we run out, I'll get more.

Georg, do you know if fire restrictions are in effect this year? If not, I'll plan to cook with charcoal.

According to this CalFire webpage, Alpine County is "permit required". I'm not sure if that applies to campfires, or only residential outdoor burning.

Edit: I just figured out Sourgrass is in Calaveras County, which is restricted. We'd have to go a little higher to be in Alpine County.

No campfires!!!!!!

I've been to the trail 3 times in the last two months. No open fires. It's posted at the trail head.
One weekend when we were up there another group decided to have a camp fire. At noon. The rangers have them a $630 ticket.

Camp fire permits are required for propane stoves ( which are allowed ). I have printed out a stack of 50 permits for everybody.
