Hi All,

My first Rubithon and my current ride has had to back out. Does anybody have a open seat and happens to be leaving from Los Angeles?

I'm happy to split the costs with someone and I'm bringing additional raffle prizes! (TemboTusk)

Question: In case a ride does not pan out. Can one drive to the trailhead, safely leave a vehicle there (FJ-60 not Rubicon worthy) and hike in to base camp? I have never been to the Rubicon, so I don't know the distances or possiblilty of getting to camp without a ride.

Please let me know.
(PM me or click the banner below to get my phone number.)

Thanks,

Jerry

It is a pretty good hike in but very doable. You can actually walk faster than drive in a lot of the sections.
The hardest part is carrying in your gear. There is reasonabe parking at the trail head, but you never know what some goofballs will do. They stole my spare tire off my trailer last year.
I have an open seat in my mini truck. Going in early Thursday and back out as early as I can Sunday to loon

I was with you when that happened. I got the camo fj40. Was parked next to you, I remember you telling me they took yer spare. That had to of been the roughest trip back to loon I ever had. I lost my head and was lessthan pleasant to be around. I was surprised you and Roger put up with me.

Hey Nocents,

Thanks for the offer, I may take you up on it. As much fun as hiking in might be, I would rather ride with my gear!

Loon Lake looks like a good place to leave Cruiser.

You weren't that bad. It was an adventure. I want to check out your "new" rig this year. Sounds like it came together and should be a fun ride. You going in on the double locker run?

yes, we are scheduled for double locker. Talking with others at swap meet to see what their plans are as well.

new motor good. I was soooo tired of listening to that ole carbed 307 cranking over and the boat sound was getting lame. I think everyone at rubithon will like just so they don't hear that dang ole starter for 10 minutes.
Good riddens to that old motor, funny, with a new carb it is in a 1ton 1985 chevy work truck in front of an auto and runs really well.

BACK TO RUBITHON..............

I am so excited, just to get going and see everybody, Big Ross and his cookin, the Knorr crew, stayner clan, and a whole lot more. The Stayner family just puts a smile on my face when you see them on the trail. and you will see them.

Cmon guys, last week for shake down, packing, supplies. go get your fire permits , fishing licenses, safety equip., bug spray..................Raffle prizes, oh yeah, do not misplace your winch controller.

There ia a station at the main placerville stop light, 100 ft from the highway that has diesel.

Is the Wagon Run even happening?

Cruiserdrew will not be there this year.

Just got off the phone with Tony, If I go in solo on Wednesday then there will be a "wagons run" of precisely one wagon :frown:. I will be hitching on to a Thursday run instead.

I noticed on the previous page that the Tuesday run has been canceled. I was the other guy who was signed up for that run, does this mean I am automatically enrolled in the Wed AM run? I hope so, I'm so excited to wheel and meet all you folks at my first TLCA event!!!!!

You might want to "check in"

I sent a pm to Tony. I was signed up for the Tuesday run, but then that got cancelled due to no turnout and I was moved to Wednesday.
I'm leaving on Sunday and meandering on down that way slowly, I'm not sure if I'll be able to check in here after that so I hope the wagon run is still a go.

Glad I took a few days off before loading up and heading out. For some reason I lost a couple switched ignition circuits today. Glad that happened here in the "comfort" of my driveway and not on the trail. Fixed some exhaust issues too that have been slowly getting worse over time. On tomorrows list will be nut and bolting things. I need to put a floor in the roof rack too. I am thinking a simple plywood layout. I may dig into why my tachometer quit working as well, but that is nothing essential.

After final checks rig is a o.k. And all I gotta do is pack and put solar panels on.
This is gonna be fun.

Finally packed. Next time I'm towing a trailer!

See ya'll Wednesday morning at Loon Lake. :p

Are you meeting up with anyone else? I will be there Thursday with my 80! Make sure to top off on fuel in case you have to come back out through loon lake due to too much snow in the Tahoma section above Cadillac Hill.
