it's that time again........

this years' event will be at deer valley CA, just like the last several years. the site has worked out very well and is big enough for everybody.
looks like i'll try to go up on friday sept 2nd and the event is officially from saturday sept 3rd thru monday sept 5th.
as always, this is a freebie, no need for sign-ups or registration, fees or anything along those lines. just show up with your land cruiser, does'nt have to be a 45, along with your camping gear and food and have a good time.
the raffle will be sunday evening, everybody who drives a cruiser to the event gets a ticket. i've aready contacted a lot of vendors and the prizes are starting to trickle in. got a couple of boxes full of stuff already. if you can bring a prize along with you, that would be greatly appreciated. cash raffle will be help right after the raffle on sunday night, winner gets 50%, the rest goes to the "Friends of the Rubicon" foundation as always.
hope to see a lot of you guys up there again!

ps: i'll post proper directions in the next couple of days.

Anyone planning to attend from Washington or Oregon? I am 95% sure I will be driving down from Bend OR if you want to caravan down. Georg does a great job with the event and it is something everyone should try to attend more than once even if you don't have a 45.

X2 on the Event ! We are already looking forward to it. One of the best Events of the year. This year we are planning a day trip around the dam and give any kids a chance to get some driving time in :steer:

you bring up a good point rob. i'd like to get a bunch of the stockers together this year and go on a run on sunday, past the laks and up the hill. did part of it last year and the scenery and views are tough o beat. very mild dirt road.......

Last year there was talk for a while after the event about doing a hike this year. Something about an old camp or building site. Does anyone else remember this? Interest? Tina and I hike regularly, and could help with organizing this, but we'd sort of need to have the person who know where we're going to be part of the group as well.

Looks like I'll be moving parts in both directions again this year if anyone needs a MUDship.

Best

there's an old camp off the trail. iirc the old foot trail going to it is pretty over-grown and hard to find. starts near the 2nd creek crossing and heads north or northwest.
i remember the gentleman talking about it last year, i believe he and his wife hiked in and were able to find the trail.
i guess if you want to go on that hike, then go for it. there should be some info in last years' threads.......i bet a few other attendees would go as well.
