Are these two SUV's built on the same platform?

I know that in the past they have been different, the 4Runner had its own while the GX used the Prado.

Has anything changed for 2010? It looks like the 2010 4Runner will be pretty capable right off the showroom floor. Will the GX be as good? Not that either would see any hardcore wheeling, but camping, snow, mountain bike trips, etc. The Lexus has a great looking interior, so what would you buy and why?

Thanks,
Ryan.

Since 2003, they have shared platforms. Essentially identical frames/running gear.
2010 Trail Grade 4Runner is very well equipped with manual t case lever, KDSS and, I think?, rr locker

GX seems to be the same platform, with the addition of the 4.6 V8 and, of course, Prado body.

I would go for the GX, just because the interior is awesome and the nice V8.
However, there is a very real price difference.

Value-wise, I would def. go for the Trail Grade 4Runner.

If you are modding this thing at all, def. go for the Trail Edition 4Runner.
I did see the GX yesterday, and the interior is truly amazing.

The 5th Gen 4Runner and the 2nd Gen GX has always and will be on the same chassis but phaform has always been different. They also share some of the same compoents. KDSS are the same on both to where Lexus comes standard and 4Runner is on the trail edition. For 10 gran more from the Train edition to Lexus GX is the way to got only thing is you will not get a electric locking diff. The GX has damper control shocks and the 4Runner doesn't not.

Which one are you getting? I prefer the AWD and V8 in the GX. No mention of rear diff lock in the GX. The other offroad goodies can be ordered like KDSS, MTS and CC.

Strangely, the only 2010 4Runner w/ AWD is the Limited.
The others, including TG, have part-time

I'm anxious to hear how the 4.6 V8 does in the GX

I do like the idea of part time 4wd...especially if there is a fuel savings.

I have a 4R and my old man as a GX. They are both very similar but the GX is much more luxurious. If you are going to be carrying in the family without modding it, go for the GX and just sit back

I have the '10 Limited 4runner. If you have the extra $20K+, i would get the GX! It is a sick vehicle with ALL the suspension, traction, luxury interior options and a V8 to boot.
That said, the Limited is VERY nice inside and has full-time 4x4- that was the biggy for me. I will add a rear ARB locker and use my mad 4x4 skills to compensate for the lack of KDSS ;)

I'll take care of those blingin' 20's when the tires wear out
