Here is a Shorty.
I like yours, but the bottom of the doors seems wrong, and I was thinking along the lines of taking out the window behind the driver's door altogether and extending the rear side window forward.

I don't have the mad p-shop skillz, but here's kind of what I'm suggesting:

Could you maybe do something along those lines?

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Toyota is planning a mid-summer launch of a special-edition 2007 FJ Cruiser sport-utility vehicle that is beefed up with off-road performance features, Inside Line has learned.

"Look for things like shocks, tires, wheels, and off-road performance features," said Mark Amstock, Toyota's national truck and SUV market planning manager here at the launch of the FJ Cruiser on Tuesday.

Amstock said Toyota is working with tire manufacturer BFGoodrich on the yet unnamed special-edition FJ Cruiser. He added that Toyota designers are "pushing for traditional FJ colors, including tans and reds."

The Japanese automaker is also considering an FJ model without the signature white roof — a feature which will be standard at the SUV's launch — as well as a convertible version. "We're giving that a lot of thought," Amstock said in regard to a topless FJ Cruiser. "But nothing specific yet."

The FJ Cruiser, priced in the mid-$20Ks, is set to make its debut in late March. It competes against the Hummer H3, the Jeep Wrangler and the Nissan Xterra.

Amstock said Toyota will export a few of the FJ Cruisers to Canada and 183 to the Middle East. He said there are no plans for a right-hand-drive version of the vehicle or a diesel version.

What this means to you: Toyota aims to defy every inch of the Rubicon Trail with its special-edition FJ Cruiser.

You guys are true dorks. It was done for the gentlemen in the thread that requsted it. It was most definately not done for a Rubicon owner or someone who is not bright enough to tell the difference between a Jeep Liberty and an FJ Cruiser. You should both just put on your speedos and ride around in your jeeps.

Love and Kisses
Johnny

Screw you, :flipoff2:
All I said, was that it doesnt look quite right.

You left out the date of the article. -- December 2005.

It's May now... I haven't seen a newer post referencing this special edition (Last called the Moab edition, I guess because Rubicon is already taken?). I think The Toyota guy was testing the waters...

Easing up.

Slightly Different Shorty with Olive paint

The paint job is a little sloppy. I omitted the side window and let the rear window wrap further around the side.

Besides how gay it looks, what do you think?

The wheelbase is still too short, which makes it look like it's hunched through the middle. The rear of the door shouldn't change from the way it is on the production model, the angle now makes it look too severe.

I like the longer window, but maybe make the b-pillar flag longer. The reason I left it longer was because it was covering an exposed rollbar.

Overall, I like the direction it's going!

I am not sure what you see that makes you say that. The door on my shorty proto is unchanged from the actual FJ.

I will include an 07 FJ pic for comparison in further posts.

Now I know what I did. I used the contour of the rear door as the back edge of the front door.

Back the the drawing board.

I want 5 more inches of wheelbase and a real rear door with some glass in it! :)

i agree i think its too short. a lift would maybe change the short and squatty look.

Shorty

The trailing edge of the doors NEED to be FJ-40 straight :flipoff2: vertical like these fingers-not contoured around the rear wheel like the old FJ-25s. Good jobs on the pics...more than I can do
