If you have not replaced your water pump yet, might not be bad idea to do it same time. I also put in new upper and lower radiator hoses.

Also consider thermostat. They don’t often fail and when they do they usually fail open, but this will ensure it is operating at exactly the correct temps.

88k miles on a 2013 LX. Is what it is. Doing hoses and thermostat as well.

I would have to verify by checking the receipts but I want to say it was under $700-800, parts only, add the Fan clutch pulley also, and I ordered from toyotapartsdeals. Not to say that site is the cheapest avenue by any stretch. That may be with shipping also. The radiator itself is about half that. Also all genuine Toyota/Aisin parts

Everything except the radiator was purchased from Rock Auto. That was $360 shipped
Radiator was from Conicelli Toyota Parts Center. That was $322 shipped
Coolant was from a dealer on Ebay. 4 gallons $101 shipped

Thanks for this info. Are you budgeting for all of that every ~100-120k, or just the rad around then when it starts to crack again? And are these OEM parts or aftermarket from Rock Auto?

Belts, hoses, pulleys and thermostat are made by Gates.
Water pump and fan clutch are Aisin.
PCV valve is Standard Motor Products.
Radiator is Toyota OEM and the new design which shouldn't crack so I expect longer than 83K out of these parts.

My wife’s LX570 just went at 123k. I replaced with Denso unit.

I spotted ground leakage under the front left of the car

I'm the third owner of the vehicle - you really think it would be worth touching base?
Have you owned, do you currently own any other toyota products? Did you buy the subject vehicle from a Lexus/Toyota dealership? It's all about relationship and how one presents one's argument.

All I can tell you is that the repair has been partially subsidized by Toyota for many owners, and many not original owners.

The early radiator crack might be a feature... happens fairly early and prevents the "strawberry milkshake" where the radiator internally fails and causes the tranny fluid to mix with coolant.

I just learned that this is a widespread issue on 3rd gen 4runner and 1st gen Tacoma and also started happening on 2nd gen Tacoma. ih8mud has a report of 100 series failure. No reports on 200 series I could found.

I don't think 200 series has been on the road long enough to make that determination, but yes, replacing the radiator will avoid other deferred maintenance issues like internal failure. I don't care what vehicle it is, the cooling system (water pump, radiator, hoses) should probably be replaced before 150K anyway.

I agree. However when it comes to radiator & hoses I'd argue it's a combination of mileage and age as well.

Granted I have two cars that are 15 & 14 years old on their original radiators (and hoses....). All in great condition, cars being quite low mileage and garaged.

I am a 3rd owner of a LC 200 and we also own other Toyotas and Toyota compensated me significantly to replace the radiator.

My 2008 LX570 was leak free until about a month or two ago (130,000 miles) when I started having the pink spray all over the engine.
I will preface this by stating that I do plan to replace the radiator but I wanted to try an experiment. That being said, this is what my crack looked like last week.

And I used this product which is supposed to bond into the existing plastic rather than simply stick to the surface.

I applied it pretty thick

Now, after a few days and several heat cycles it looks like this:

I will report back with any future results. Wish me luck!
