Recently acquired a 2006 lx470. I've already completed the mobile DVD functional bypass, for "shows" only of course. To clarify for numerous other posters asking whether this modification can be safely carried out on a late model LX, it can - there is no impact to the nav, GPS, brake light indication, etc.
I followed the instruction for tapping in an RCA line splice to the " red with grey spots" line coming from the upper row, second plug from the right - in order to output video signal to my rear screens. Upon doing so, the signal I am getting while playing a movie on the front screen is the NAV screen on the rear!
I have expended countless hours researching both of these mods before carrying them out, so I have made a game effort at trying to resolve this on my own. I have yet to find anyone with a later model lx470 to have actually accomplished the video out to a rear screen modification. I did just receive a signal booster in tge mail today which I have yet to install, however this may only help to clear up the nav screen image on the rear screens rather than project the DVD movie playing on the front screen.
In reviewing the wiring diagrams it does not appear that there is a significant change in post 2004 DVD systems, so I'm rather mystified as to why it is when I make this simple splice that my outcome is different than others (earlier models tho). I also know that quite a number of other late model owners attempting to make the same mod and again have yet to find one that was successful.
If anyone has any constructive ideas on a path forward, I would greatly appreciate it.
