I just bought at 2006 GX 470. It has the air suspension. I’m trying to plan out what to do I want a 2” lift on it for some off roading. Nothing to crazy but I want to be able to go where I want to go.

Can I keep the air and just add a 2” kit or do I need to redo it all?

Should I just redo it all with the potential that the air system goes bad?

As I’m sure everyone says this money is tight so I am also looking for my cheaper options. I plan on putting on bigger tires not sure what yet but nothing to crazy because it will still be a daily driver.

Thanks for any suggestions and help.

Welcome!

I'd love to answer your questions, but unfortunately I am unfamiliar with your truck.
You will probably have better luck in the section for the LC 120/GX 470. Here: 120-series-toyotas
This subforum is mainly 1995-2004 Tacomas and 1995-2002 4runners.

@Turbocrazy1989 i’m lifted about 2” up front with the Bilstein 6112 2.5” diameter shocks and coils. Rear air bags were refreshed in 2013 and raised about 3/4” with the air sensor lowering trick.

So, yes you can lift and keep the rear air bags. You might want to read this post for more info on a mild build GX470 Primer for the Ideal Mild-Build for Under $3000
