I was one of the lucky ones to get my new2me TLC with a single key. So I ordered an OEM key off of ebay. Toyota Part# 89070-60750, Dealer wanted 199 for it, ebay had it for 149.00

Got it in hand Monday, and i tried to program it last night. Got the Remote FOB part working straigt away using the threads here but the transponder would not program. Tried like 25+ times between the wife and I both trying it. Came inside and seemed like 2006 models needed to visit the dealership to register a key.
Ahh nutz!

Found a 2006 Camry Key Guide online and figured WTH worth a shot. And lucky dog, it worked!! So I now have to keys without a visit to Satan!!

Here are the exact steps I took and it worked on the first try.

Using working key, lock driver side door with key and remove.
Using working key, unlock driver door with key, remove key, get in cab and close door.

1. Using a master key (original key), insert (and remove) it from the ignition 5 times. On the 5th time, leave it in the ignition, then:

2. Open and close the driver's door 6 times.

3. Remove the master key. The security light should now stay lit red. (Mine actually did this so I knew I was on the right track!)

4. Insert the newly cut key. The security light should be blinking red; wait about 60 seconds until the light stops blinking and turns off. (It really did turn off, just wait for it)

5. Remove the new key. Insert the old master key and start the engine and turn it off.

Your new key should have been programmed and ready for use. My security light went off right away when I put the new key in.

I would still like to know how to clear the other keys correctly from the ECM.

WOOT!

Nice, thanks for the tip! I need to grab a spare key for my 06 too.

Is the working key = newly cut key?

Secondly will this procedure activate the keyless entry on the new key

I just did this on a 2005 LX470 with the old master key as the key to use to lock/unlock door. Then followed the steps. Programmed the new security transponder no problem! Thanks travestyevp. Did not program the keyless entry, on to do that now.

I tried these steps for my 2004 100 series. I got as far as the blinking security light but the light never went off. I left it blinking for 15 minutes on two separate occasions before I gave up. The security light was blinking in the following sequence: blink, blink, pause, blink.

Does anyone have any ideas? I was not able to program the built in fob either using instructions on a previous post.

Thanks

2003 transponder key programming

I too searched hi and low and tried over 20 times with various onboard sequencing - no luck - UNTIL i found this thread. THe instruction here worked perfectly! I think the "key" step is the locking and unlocking the door initially because I tried it without doing that several times after reading other posts and it didn't work.

Thank you!!! :grinpimp:

I just did this on my 2000. My father was laughing at me when he saw me doing the rain dance in my car. After a few tries he came over to help and continued to make fun of me, saying this was not how a master key is programmed. After we got it I laughed at him and locked and unlocked my 2000 about 300 times to rub it in. The dealer wanted some insane amount of money to program it.

I know this has probably been answered, but is there a secret dance for converting the valet key to a master? I've heard whispers that you have to use special equipment but haven't received a firm answer.

Yes I was the lucky guy who's cruiser can only with the valet. Yayyyyyy. :-\

If you had a master key you could convert your valet to master.

Toyota will swap an ecu with owners who dont have master keys.

Just tried this on a 2003 and it worked. Thanks!
