I actually have another option, we have an old Honda CR-V that is set up to flat tow behind our RV. It could be driven up to Virginia for the family visit then towed behind the land cruiser back. But the CR-V has 161K miles and only 5 seats for our family of 5 (vs our minivan with loads of space) and still the risk of a high mileage Cruiser with unknown maintenance developing an issue. Family wouldn't like me with this option. Or I should say, like me even less than currently.

I live about 45 min from leesburg...sounds like you got this covered tho! Def not a bad idea driving back with the wife in a support vehicle or towing...peak week was probably 2 weeks ago but its still a beautiful drive, and the thrill of not knowing what may break on your rig while hurdling down I81 south at 80mph is always tempting!

Edit: Just looked and i've seen that dealer post over the years on CL and the like and their vehicles always look clean and legitimate. Congrats!

It's just another one of those buy-at-auction dealerships, you have to be very careful. Not the kind of place I would buy a daily driver vehicle, but for a second vehicle at some point a price can be so low as to balance out the fear of potential issue. Like many, they clean these cars up nicely and maybe they have a good eye and timing to get decent auction vehicles at low prices. But they do have online reviews regarding complaints about the vehicle's mechanical issues after sale. People generally don't review online unless there IS a negative issue, but they don't have a flawless record selling auction vehicles - you just never know about the prior ownership.

I'll give you her number so you can call and tell her about the 20+ hour drive. :)

tell her you'll take all the kids with you and she can have the peace and quiet by herself. She can have total control of the radio and doesn't have to listen to the, Are we there yet? questions.
