Searched buy couldn’t find info… would swapping a 2005 nav unit to a 2007,8 or 9 nav unit work ?

Different wiring harness and a lot of other parts need to be modified. It probably can be done but not cost nor time effective. The only gain are slightly better display and still very outdated.

Just get an andoid head unit that can control AC too or do non nav conversion. There are quite a few in the market lately.

That’s what I’ll probably wind up doing. Finding an AC unit that works for 12/04 production date GX seems to be a bit challenging.

There a few haters of these things - but I've had mine for 3 years (the P.O. installed it) and am happy with it with the Sergery firmware upgrade. It can run Android Auto in addition to any Android app. I have Torque Pro, a off-road mapping app, and other stuff on it. It does require replacing the OEM backup camera; the one I installed is higher resolution anyway. I ended up selling my OEM Nav unit a few years ago.
