the truck is going to be factory white body, flat black hood, grey interior.

yep, the sheet metal is something else.

when i called ens for a take off roof they wanted 1000 for it, you know people there so maybe you can get it cheaper. a new roof would be quicker than fixing that one in my opinion.

Louis

the new 79 cab is the yellow thing on the pallet

Wayne has a new 79 roof - not sure if we have pics already (or not)

all sheetmetal that came on the truck is going to be scrapped and replaced

this beat up white cab is the one I was going to put on my 80 series chassis..... (see my other thread here in the 70 section)

Wayne said its going to the scrapper and I asked if I could have it and he just laughed at me & said "Sure".....

but I got second thoughts about it after we pulled the tarp off and got a good look at it....

although if I can get a stripped 80 chassis up here within the next couple weeks I may very well put the old cab on it to at least see how it fits (& replace it with a cleaner 79 cab at some point down the road).

i was going to reply with "we have bondo on sale here right now" to get yah going but Rusty beat me to the response.

You could turn that cab around and put it on your tractor for the winter;)

Do u keep pics of this rig?

I realize this is an older thread but for the benefit of us "non-Canadians" how do the mines use those trucks that leave then in such an abused condition?
Thanks...

picture a person that is doing a job they don't like and are bored.
they are playing with a $80K of machinery that they are not responsible for nor do they have to pay to have repaired.
now picture that person as a spoiled kid (union protected) playing in an area that is off the radar of those in charge.
now picture bumper cars

similar to "hold my beer and watch this" mentality.

underground demolishion derby
i have heard some of the trucks look like this after the first week.

That's a shame.
A good butt kicking would be in order....

Some with OEM backs, sub tank, seating for 9, A/C, block heaters and more.

Not only the Union guys...some (Staff) drive worst than some hourly and keep the dirtiest vehicles, so how can you set a standard? but I digress.

Secret is use a lower gear as opposed to riding the brakes on the long declines, wash in order to keep the acidic muck off, and of course drive to conditions.

The acidity of our mine tends to eat the frame and body in three years. Imagine having to add plate to $1000,000.00 8yd scoops to keep even them from having the wheel wells eaten.

What about the "hand me a beer and watch this" mentality
