For the record these are the various models that Depo makes for '98-'05 (or possibly plans to make). The US distributor is Maxzone with offices in CA and GA if somebody wants to try and see if a group buy or special order is possible.

The HZJ105 is a 100-series body on a 80-series frame as everybody knows. so the lights for those should fit.

Do you have any information on the GA offices? I wouldn't mind stopping by and if possible discuss a group buy for you guys. If they are intact the ones who can source the Depo's for 98-02 rigs

2000UZJ,

Any ideas on a plug-n-play HID high-beam solution for LX470 (realizing one would probably have to disable to DRLs...)?

Sonk,

Few things about HID's in the stock location. They are fabulous on long distance back roads where there is little to no traffic. Much better output and distance. They draw less power (once warmed up. 5-10 seconds). They have no filament so the bulb is much more reliable (depending on quality of course). The downside is this, they will not do well if you cannot leave your high beams on for more than 20 seconds at a time. There is no "instant" on and off and it will reduce your ability to "flash to pass" or flash somebody into traffic. If you truly want to run HID's in your highbeams the correct way to do it is to swap the LX projector with a Bi-Xenon projector so you retain the "flash to pass" and instant high beam while the actual HID high beam is warming up. If you put a HID in the stock location and don't swap out the projector you technically won't have a highbeam for 5-10 seconds. That can be a huge issue if your scooting along on the backroads and see something in the distance, go to highbeams and by the time you are either past it (or run over it) your highbeams are just warming up. So if you WANT to run a HID high beam, you need to swap the projector out with a bi-xenon projector. Make sense?

I think the ones referenced (D12-1103 is the PN on my lights) are out of production. Their current catalog has no mention of them. No mention of US-spec. lights at all that I can find for that matter.

You'll have to get yourself up to Norcross (former mid-town derelict BTW):

I will drive up this Friday if I can get off work a little early. If they are only RHD then they will be for retrofitting purposes only. I will call them tomorrow and see what they can get for our rigs.

Got the four Morimoto H1s mounted and *mostly* aimed. Went with the graphite shrouds.

The cutoff is sharp and parallel across the four projectors but need to tweak for height. I'll post more after I pull and seal them all the way around. Anyway here's a gratuitous shot or two:

Now we have the same headlights!

graphite shrouds  looks good

Thx. They light up the bowls a bit (which I like) and I used an LED wedge bulb for the marker lamp below the outer projectors and some Vision-X 1157A marker/turn signal lamp replacements.

The Vision-X bulbs freak the system out a bit (double rate blinker) indicating to me that the truck thinks a bulb it out. Later model owners may see a bulb failure indicator thrown.

The graphite's are my favorite shroud for the Mini's. Throw a CCFL behind them and they look sharp (I'm not a CCFL guy btw). You need to add a resistor to the blinker to get proper flashing, hyper flash can ruin a blinker relay over time.

I just ordered my power inverter and a whole bunch of retro stuff. If anybody wants to retro their headlights I can do it. discounts on parts :) PM me

Looks good. Seems like a PITA though. Anyone want to retrofit some for me?

By your second set you'll be a pro. If you're only going to do it once, and somebody is willing to do it for you for a fee... Go for it, if the price is right. I would have gladly paid someone to do it for me.

Agreed, I have Nick on a special project for me to, looking forward to some LX love....

I really wish I could get the old 06+ depot lights for my 2000.....

I think I like BamaBrock's set up.

I've got less than $200 in my setup. (mori projectors $120, mori H1 bulbs $35, DDM ballast $30, ebay relay harness $10). The morimoto H1 fit great in the 98-05 OEM light with just a little grinding at the top for clearance. I've got the projector high beam wires tapped into the factory high beams so it is full bi-xenon. Cutoff is great and performs like a stock system like the one in my brother's LR3. I used his beam pattern to dial in mine.

Has anyone tried this kit from TRS? Bi-xenon Morimoto Mini Stage III Kit (H1) - Complete Retrofit Kits from The Retrofit Source Inc

I'm wondering what about it is easier to install. They claim that the projector mounts in the bucket with a shaft that goes through the preexisting hole in the back (that's what she said).

For those of you that have done this, whats the biggest Shrouds that practically fit into the 98-05 headlight housing?

I'm liking the cleanness of the E55 shrouds. E55-R - Projector Shrouds from The Retrofit Source Inc

TRS is a very sketchy place :grinpimp:

yes, PM me and I will hook you up with some polyellipsoidal units and a pair of nice Metal halide capsules enclosed in UV tubes and pressure tubes. Just sayin' :D

Just ordered a TRS Morimoto Stage III kit with the mini Gatling. Hope that was the way to go as far as shrouds go. Couldn't find a much more recommended shroud for the stock housing but I wish I would have called back on Friday to talk to the LC owner which I assume is 2000UZJ although the guy I talked to said he thought he had a 96 or so LC so sorry 2000UZJ if that isn't you. Didn't do enough research it seems
