I plan on a 70W low beam (high beam as well via solenoid). 2 Mini projectors, only high beam(no shield) with 100W HID in them. They will be separately wired. Those will be my long range lights. So when I flip the factory stalk only the solenoid trips on the 70W projector. I will have another switch close for the 100W (2per side) projectors. It'll take a few weeks to get it done.

Holy Overkill!

Instead of trying to cram all that into a 1998-2005 OEM light, why not spend $200 on a set of DEPO 2006/07 buckets and put in some larger HID projectors in the bowls? That way, you can do a Bi-Xenon in the low and an additional projector in the high-beam spot, then just add a small halogen for DTR lights, if you want them.

Actually that is completely false. Any one that has installed HID's (DDM or other) in the stock housing without retrofitting projectors can confirm the difference from stock lighting is night and day. Now the debate over the quality of light and light cutoff is a totally different discussion.
Yep. Just to be clear, the DDM kit is just bulbs and ballasts which are whats needed whether you are just sticking them in the stock housing or if you are installing projectors in the stock housing. I use DDM ballasts, morimoto bulbs, morimoto projectors and an ebay relay harness. I use DDM ballasts and bulbs in several vehicles and lights and have never had a ballast/bulb fail, although I have two extra ballasts just in case. I keep an extra ballast in the back of the LC just in case.
I didn't want to cut into the oem lights to do the retrofit because it isn't reversible. And I don't want the nipple look. It looks cool in the Range Rovers. Not sure why I don't like it in the LCs.

Maybe I'll just hold out for these Laser headlights BMW is working on.
[Deniro] I have nipples Klaus, can you milk me?[Deniro]:D

I've got less than $200 in my setup. (mori projectors $120, mori H1 bulbs $35, DDM ballast $30, ebay relay harness $10). The morimoto H1 fit great in the 98-05 OEM light with just a little grinding at the top for clearance. I've got the projector high beam wires tapped into the factory high beams so it is full bi-xenon. Cutoff is great and performs like a stock system like the one in my brother's LR3. I used his beam pattern to dial in mine.

Oh, I understand what can go in a 98-05 light. However, 2000UZJ was going to TRY to put a 3" projector and TWO minis in one. That's why I suggested just getting the 06/07 bowls and put one of each in them. MUCH more room for the larger diameter projector.

On another note, I put my 55W DDM's in my OEM 2004 lights last night and adjusted them accordingly. It's amazing how much more light they provide over Halogen. I plan to add some projectors to some 06/07's soon and swap them out.

I like the headlights i have now. I am not to interested in spending the money on Depo's. I ordered some LED boards and drivers today so my turn signals are getting a make over as well. This project is already costing to much, a new set of headlights would put it way over for me.

Depo 2006/2007 buckets wont fit into a 1998-2005 truck with out some body modifications as I understand it.... could be wrong. They used to make a retrofit light that looked like the 2006/07 and fit in the 1998-2005 trucks (I.e. the one LJ is running). However, those are unobtanium these days as they no longer make them. If a source were available.... I know a few that would snatch them up including myself. I believe LJ said they would do another run on them if there were a certain number of buyers.....If I could get a set of those.... I would have already started a projector retrofit....

And for those with LX's. The projector bowls cannot handle 55W. You will peel the chrome right off the bowl in a matter of months.

I installed my low beam HID's (55w) in my 2001 LX in March of 2007. I have not had a single problem and the chrome is still intact. I have made many trips which require me to drive several hours at night. Don't know how many hours my HID's have on them, but it is a lot!

Do the 35w and 55w HID ballasts use the same bulbs? I have 35w HID low beams now and was thinking of going with 55w but wasn't sure if I needed a whole kit or just the ballast.

Bulbs are the same. 55W shortens the life. But honestly, I wouldn't worry about it.

And if only we can get 15 interested people I would even buy another set just in case something bad happens to my headlights...or you know, just do kyoso23's conversion with oem parts

Similar experience with my 55w ddm kit, including 2 trips at night from PA to IA and back, and at least 4 trips from PA to FL and back, running continuously at night and at least 5 hrs. at a time. In fact, I've sat at idle for extended periods of time and noticed my housing does not get hot. Warm to touch, yes, but never hot. Those ddm's have been working flawlessly. Without question, most bank for buck mod I've done on my lx470 to date. Plus, my wife leaves the switch on auto, so each start up and shut down, the lights are on in the garage for a few seconds before going off. It drives me nuts, but what I can I say? The ddm's are like the energizer bunny!

Yeah LJ get a get a group together....

will they work with the 06-07 grill though? If I did the lights, I'd want to swap out the grill too.

I will send them an email again! But no they won't fit the 06 07 grille! If you change out the grille might as well jus do the whole conversion:) someone needs to do a detailed writeup!

GREAT, now you guys have me thinking about buying more crap I don't need... :D
