Hey Gang,

I recently killed the front differential in my 00' and am searching for a replacement. My case is saturated in gear oil, so I'm sure I will be greeted with a new fill hole when I drop it. I will also be looking for front axles while I am at it. Would rather something local to 06477, but will consider shipping.

Please let me know what you have available or if you have any recommendations.

I haven't seen a broken case yet but i'm sure it can happen. I'm not local but I can ship. have a 99 diff. weaker 2 spider but have 4 spider carrier I could put in it or arb RD131 on the shelf I could swap in if you want to go locked.

Hey CJ,
While I am mechanically inclined and work on european cars for a living, this is my first Toyota and first dive into learning about lockers and all that good stuff. Two questions:
What is the cost of the 99 Diff with the 4 spider carrier vs it with the RD131?
And what exactly is a RD131, this would require onboard air I am guessing.

Sorry for the noob questions, I appreciate you reaching out to me.

The 99 case with new bearings, seals, and 4 spider diff 4.30 gears would run $900+ shipping add the locker $1900 + shipping.

Yes RD131 is the ARB air locker. You would need an air source. Lockers are nice for wheeling to control wheel speed and spin when the front tire lifts due to very little flex

Got it, thank you. We do quite a bit of wheeling, however, I have not committed to the idea of adding front of rear lockers yet. I will get back to you on that front diff, going to pull mine out soon and see what the damage was. Will be starting a little nest egg for it in the mean time.

You should take him up on that ARB locked unit, that's a good price and a reputable builder. Once and done.
