Bought my 2000 new. Have 159,000 miles. Always serviced by dealer. I just replaced power steering pump, rotor, caliper, pads. Great vehicle.

I have 120K on mine, no issues with tranny, but I will be replacing the second exhaust mani:mad: only thing that pisses me off about these trucks, especially if you repliace with OEM they are about $1000 installed, and from what I hear $500 or so to fix, but the fix usually last a only a few years, then the "ticking" comes back. Other than that...did her 90K service and it runs quieter and smoother than some newer sedans out there, and I've gone places where highly modified LCs have gone, with no issues, and I'm all stock. The 4WD is amazing. I also have a 2004 which is even nicer than the 2000 even though its the same body..but better transmission (5spd vs 4spd) and 17" wheels etc, etc. Then I have an FJ60, which makes both the other ones feel like Buicks on the road!
Do it, mine is for sale BTW is you want a nice Texas truck that only needs a new Exhaust Manifold

I bought my 2000 with 138K on it. The only problems I have had have been regular maintenance items: timing belt, water pump, brakes, rotors, tires, and the starter. I do have the ticking of a cracked manifold but it doesn't bother me right now. Don't think mine is very bad. Only hear it when the weather is cold and when the LC is cold. Don't have the 1K to fix OEM or the 640 plus shipping ether. On my list though.

I wouldn't worry about the tranny. From what I have read, it usually happens with less than 75K on it.

Have about 150K on mine. Great truck. Was throwing a trans code, dealer wanted to replace trans. I dropped trans pan everything looked good, so cleaned all elec connections to it, been running fine. So some trans might be getting replaced for small serviceable issues, but dealer just replaces.

Mine had a bad o2 sensor, leaky cv boot and the tic,tic tic when purchased with 117k. Replaced both sensors, put new grease in the boot and a heavy cable tie, and then replaced all fluids. Over 3 years and another 50k changed out timing belt and water pump, new rotors, calipers and pads and wheel bearings. I just regularly do oil changes and make sure everything stays greased well. Still have the tic. I just try and read the forums here and if I think I can pull it off myself I go for it. Next summer we have plans to go from the east coast to the west coast in our RTT so I got a few more items to replace before we try and pull that off.

Bought my 2000 from my sister with 150k now has 179k, no problems other than going on second passenger manifold (slight tic at start up)
Have added all the weight and goodies no issues. All service by dealer, looking through receipts of history don't even see a coil pack that has been replaced. Getting ready for second timing belt and water pump as preventative maint. I wouldn't be scared of a high mileage one!!!

What if you don't replace the manifold? A tic tic when idling and cold doesn't seem big enough to spend $1000 to repair.

135k on my Y2K truck. I have only had one O2 sensor, one coil pack, and a CV give out on me.
and now I have it.
Replaced the steering rack, abs computer and radiator plus all normal maintenance. 200k miles.

I know I've mentioned it before but my 2000 has 263K miles. I have done almost nothing at all to this vehicle. No tranny issues whatsoever. I haven't changed the tranny fluid during the last 200K miles and 8 years. It ALWAYS smells right, clean and up to the mark. Great LX.

I'm at approx 150k. The only thing that should cost money at this point are the things I break due to my haphazard driving style.

But I upgraded several things recently: OME shocks, springs, torsion bar, WKOR sliders. Steering rack was leaking and I recently replaced it as well, but that's been the only piece of equipment that was pricey..

These vehicles are so dependable that if it's under $500 bucks I don't even flinch about just replacing it.

Anyone have an opinion? Just curious as I've never had the problem but also never understood why it was a problem.

I have a new leak. Will be looking for it this morning. I have already replaced the headers with dt. I hoping it is not the header.

Whatever leak I find, I will either tighten bolts, replace gaskets or try jb weld.

Exhaust leak is just an annoyance. Not sure it causes any real issues.

Hard to justify cash on this kind of stuff. Much rather spend on upgrades.
