Yes. It's now a gun storage. This is turning into one of the worst cars I ever owned. PS airbag was showing Inop. Prob gonna be 1k.

My wife likes to use it for kids snacks like gogurts, don't think she knows it's not working when the car is off. Not sure what to do with this. Was about to be mine. If my 88 4Runner could take an awning I'd ditch it.

The whole airbag system in the 08 is totally different than previous LC. The seat belt tensioners actually pull you back into the seat and tightens slightly when it's engaged with hard braking.

Still better than the Benz grocery getter?

Well I got rid of the benz while still under warranty so as far as out of pocket maint....no. But if I had to of paid for all that stuff on benz myself. No comparison. The benz had over 10k of warranty work. 5.5k was a camshaft sensor that required the engine be pulled out. My 98 was a first year of the 100 series and only thing that really broke was the diff.

Was on the fence of whether to switch hobbies. Think this made my mind up. Going back home to GA, its way cheaper.

Ok. Cool. Sounds like a lot of fun for sure.

The 4Runner with rain gutters is the easiest truck ever to mount a rack to. Cheap ones you can mount your awning and be happy.

I wonder if Anyone has ever spent that much money on a console cooler.

No. I bet most have failed b4 warranty up and this is one of the oldest high mileage 200s around. 2008 with 180k miles. It was a Toyota CPO car so it should not have any hidden damage. Gonna sit on it for 6 months then see if we got anymore problems. But I have had to replace both egr valves, fuel pump and now PS seat belt and the 4000 center console fridge. But still got original starter and alternator. Weird. Putting 3.2k in it today. An annual on small Cessna is less than that.

You can but on mine like that I had 2 crossbars on the cab gutter and the Yakima rack extension that attached to the rack and just sat on the fiberglass.

If it were me I'd install the rain gutter deals into the fiberglass and just use a second H1 mount to it. It's a $5000 truck. 4 holes in the top should not matter if it makes it suit your use better

Depressing to hear this - they've dropped so far from the company who proudly ran million mile ads about the venerable W123 series diesels Bummer

The 200 thread is prolly the wrong place for this response, but since the door was opened above: I hear / read comments like that from people, and I'm consistently mystified to hear them. Based on my observations over the years:

First, let me say that I've only owned one MB, (I bought a new ML320 when they first came out / sold it with 700 miles on it - quickly learned I dodged a H U G E bullet), so I'm not speaking from personal ownership experience......BUT, I worked at Blackwell Porsche + Audi in '83-'84, and I dealt with a lot of MB owners. To talk to them (and other people I've known who owned them), they would tell me "best car I've ever owned," while at the same time they'd have it in the shop at least once a month for "preventative maintenance" for, you know, stuff like an upper A-arm that snapped or a complete HVAC failure or other "preventative maintenance" problems. These people were CONSTANTLY having to do something to these cars, and it's been my observation that hasn't changed to the present day. (I had a roommate in the early 80s that owned a 75,000 mile '73 450SL. Great looking car that rode really well. He later sold it to another friend of mine. Over the course of about a 9 year ownership, we all three agreed that it had cost nearly $30,000 to keep that car functioning properly - in bone-stock form, with the ONLY modification being a change from the MB Tex seats to real leather. Totally unacceptable.)

I am at a complete loss as to how MB has gotten the stellar reputation they have. Every owner I've ever known - without exception, whether they have been willing to acknowledge it or not - has constant problems with them. Not always large ones, but usually a repair that makes you wonder why it was necessary at all. The diesel you reference may, in fact, be a fine engine, but if the car it's intended to propel isn't functional, the engine is worthless (except maybe for transplantation into a reliable vehicle). Along those lines, I was on Hwy 80 the other day - I think I was with @offr0adlim0 - and I saw a Mercedes of Jackson "Roadside Assistance" flatbed truck that was well appointed with all types of recovery gear. I made the comment that it looked well-used, to which he responded "you ever seen a Toyota Roadside Assistance truck?" Nope.

No that's an old pic. Just thought it was timely to post. This was a CPO car so I'm a little surprised. That pic was last xmas (note tree on roof). I had a fuel pump die on two different cruisers at xmas.

It's your trucks way of guaranteeing itself a Christmas present
