Hi all, I finally broke down and became a member after reading through threads about buying a 200 series. I am looking at a 2011, i guess more than looking at it. We’ve run number and it’s something I can live with. It drove great and everything I tested inside worked. Price is right at $25k with 185k miles. Does this seem worth it? I loved the truck but paying this much for something with this many miles is very foreign to me, even though I’ve owned multiple Tacoma’s. I have always bought them either new or low mile pre owned. Obvipusly this is in a different price bracket than a Tacoma. It has pretty good service records on Toyota’s website. Looks like there was a small gap where they might have not taken it to Toyota with the previous owner but it has spent its whole life in Tennessee and just received an inspection with new battery and couple other things from a local Toyota dealer. I will add the link in for photos. I just wanted some opinions since I have never really looked into a LC (always thought they were out of my price range) but I actually ran across this whole looking for a GX460.

I should add my plans for this is just hauling family and camping out of it. I have no plans of lifting or heavily modifying it. Would just like to take care of it and drive it for 500k miles lol.

I bought mine with that amount of miles, a few thousand less but a few years older from a private party. I had it inspected and overall everything looked good and we drove cross country back home no issues. I pretty much planned to baseline everything to get to 300K worry free. Radiator, Starter, Belts, Plugs, coil packs, fluids etc....pretty much anything I could get in front of. Like any car there will be issues, but these are built to last. It drives great, looks great etc... There was no difference to me in buying one with 100K or 180K, baselining was going to be the same for me either way.

My early impression is the price is high. Last year I paid just over $30k for a 2011 with 98,000 miles. The changing of transmission, diffs and transfer case should be done. Look at LX's near you. I found a 2011 LX at a Honda dealer north of Chattanooga a few months ago when I was looking at FJ's. They would have taken $21k plus tax and fees. It was just a hair over 100,000 miles and really nice.

I may look into those. I wanted to avoid something with AHC though since most of the GX460’s I even looked at were base models to avoid air ride.

I sold my white 08 a year ago with 225,000 miles, extensive obsessive records, I got $20,000.00 by selling it to another member on here. I would not be scared of buying one with 185,000 miles. I purchased a 2013 with 117,000 miles for $35,000.00
Exciting times for you and your family! You will end up getting a lift! haha

Don’t avoid an LX because of AHC. It’s hydraulic and reports on here indicate it’s useful and reliable and it fits with your intended vehicle use. There’s quite a bit of pricing info on here on Mud. In the end, if the LC you found is what you want and you’ve done your best negotiating, go for and enjoy the ride!

Edit: I’m not a fan of worrying about dealer service records because I’ve had such bad experiences with dealers. Your best info comes from your pre purchase inspection and then a complete baselining after purchase.

Good points there. I may need to do some reading on AHC even though I really like this cruiser. Just trying to look at it as “miles are just a number” because the vehicle it will replace is a 2016 GMC Sierra. While it only has 66k miles, I cannot stand the way it drives.

It’s already got a new set of KO2’s on it, but I will try to keep it stock as long as possible. I managed to keep my tacoma stock until I paid it off. Then this was one year after payoff lol
