Here is a linky to the brackets I've made for 2" drops. They are basic, simple, and work. Thought some people could use the "visual aid". Thanks to george scolaro for his help. Finally getting around to posting them. Still not done (powdercoating left).

I do like the circular drops for the front brackets, very trick, but too permanent ;)

As always, do a reality check on anything you fab.

Thanks for lookin'!

thanks!

I love that 80 series owners are starting to fab their own parts like 40 series and the like. ;)

Looks great Kumar. Agree that it's cool to see some guys starting to do their own work.

Question though, dude, why'd you splurge and go powdercoating? I just rattlecan the junk and toss it on.

Thanks!...I painted my last set and they got pretty bad pretty quickly. I hate to have to redo things so many times (painting stuff...not a big fan). Plus I have a local powder coater that is very reasonable with his prices.

It sucks where I live...rust city usa. I bought this rig with 160k miles on it from utah (previously from california)...not a SPEC of rust on it/under it/etc. One winter in the midwest took care of the :(( HATE rust. PORd the entire 40 too...lot of work, but don't have to worry about it again..

...wow, that reply was longer than I expected....

What size tires are you running?

37"...working on tweaking it to make it work off-road...oh, and getting spare parts.

UPDATED the page in my first post to reflect POWDER COATED brackets. They turned out pretty nice if I say so myself :D

Anyone have an idea on how to make a 2" drop extension for the rear upper shock mount?

The CB (cheap bastard) way is to use a coupler with the same thread and then another metric bolt. Here's what I mean: shock stud + coupler + metric bolt. Coupler can be usually found in hardware stores that carries assorted metric hardware (like Ace for ex).

Why powdercoat etc, why not just make them out of material that won't rust. :slap:

cheaper for me to get it powdercoated when I make them in qty than it is to make out of aluminum or stainless ;)
