Hey y'all! Seeing as though we had so much fun the last time, figured another Gulches run is in order. SFLC had our first meeting of the year and identified 2/28 as a good date for hitting the park again. Who's in?

I am out that is the wife's b-day and ava is the 27. It wont work for me.

Man, that stinks! I was hoping to watch you go up that hill with Eric again! But I totally respect the reason - I under-celebrated my wife's birthday once... Just once...

I'm game for now, afraid I'll commit and another horse will get hit by a car.

She is doing great actually. Had half her face torn off and a broken upper jaw bone, The wound has healed well and she is eating well and drinks fine. There are a lot of veins in a horses face, ours too, and that aids healing. Wounds are knitting well and she has been turned out to pasture all well and back in a stall at night. Tough horse for sure. She is also getting over the top care from Heather, twice a day.

Might be in . The owner said on Saturdays the hardcore rigs take over the place .

I will most likely be there again. I'm thinking the buggy type crowd will most likely be sticking to trails we wouldn't be on anyway. May be a good time to ride for a couple hours, then watch them for a while.

Wish I could. Got some friends coming in from out of town that weekend.

4hrs 37minutes... I don't think I can make it.

With Gulches being a high probability washout this weekend, would Brown Mountain be a potential other choice? I have never been there, so no idea what it looks like.

It is a fun spot, very different from Uwharrie. I would definitely recommend going. Although you won't have to take your 80 out of 2wd and they don't open till April 1st.

Allrighty then! I will do that on 4/2 to avoid Aprils Fools tomfoolery. Nothing wrong with wussie chicken trails, I did see some videos on Youtube with what looked like decent water crossings and some rocky areas called "the ledge". These latter ones may need more skills.

We are renting a mountain home this summer for family vacation near there, so will be a good exploration trip to Lake James and surrounding area. Any cool adventures ideas welcome too.

Gulches could be next weekend if it dries up? Should be in the 60's then.

I did see that, but its my wife birthday and she likes to camp at Ritz Carltons. But then again only if the the linen thread count is high enough. We may rough it out that weekend at the Biltmore Inn, or such tough spot. We take the land rover and at least do some rovering up at the school there.
