I just got an incredible deal on a 91 70 series with the 1pz engine here in Belize but need to find a transmission for it. There are very few Land Cruisers around here and am hoping someone can tell me what other Toyota's used the same transmission or what other transmissions would also fit this vehicle? From what I have found online it seems this model came with the R151F transmission is that correct? I'm a newbie to the Land Cruiser world so thanks for the help.

The other vehicles that used this gearbox are the Landcruisers HZJ78/79 and the Prado 90/95 series.
The light duty landcruisers like the KZJ70/78 also used them.
Some of the later model Hilux/4runners may also have them.
As to the swapabilty,Im not too sure but its likely.

Can you rebuild the old one?

Did i read rite befor on mud somewere that some pz's come with 4 speeds

Thanks for the info. Since my bell housing and t-case are still good swappability shouldn't be an issue I would think. It could be rebuilt which is plan B but the parts would be quite expensive here and I am not sure I trust my mechanic completely on that one. There are a lot of Hilux in Belize so that may be my best bet. Just trying to get this puppy on the road ASAP as my '95 Hilux has been nearly beat to death at this point.

Clint: I'm not sure if the pz's ever came with them but the r141f is the 4 speed version of that tranny. The r150f is also identicle ans was used in some of the gas powered truck. only difference is a taller 1st and 2nd gear gear.

You can get the rebuild kit for $200-300 from aussie ebay. The 4 sp was used in some bare bones models, there is an owner in Mongolia with one who drops in infrequently:D
