Check diesel filter - check that the fuel line is primed and does not have air in it.
Im not a glow plug person so have no idea if its a glow plug issue.
Try turning the key on for approx 10 seconds, turn key off and turn key on for another 10 seconds then start the engine, in very cold conditions this work for me.

I have a timer set at 20 sec for the glow plug. It is working fine. Also ambient temp here is ~ 30 deg C. So it is not cold but in fact hot.
I showed my rig to a Engine Mechanic, he said that the valves are sticking & the head needs to be re-furbished.
The engine has run 150K & I don't feel like having the head re-furbished. It is a sealed engine & runs fine. This issue has cropped up since last two weeks. My ride nowadays runs only a few km daily.
Any tip on having the valves cleaned/carbon removed without removing the head
