Just replaced injectors on 78 prado with the 1kzte, and there was a loud pinging and excessive smoke. Took injectors back out to inspect and make sure they were seated right, and one injector has excessive carbon compared to the others. made sure the injector seats were clean of debris and reinstalled and the pinging is still happening. Bled the injectors and no difference. Could it be a bad injector from factory? bad injector seat washers?

Replaced your injectors with what? New injectors? New nozzles? Or just refurbished originals? Where did they come from? What was the problem with the old injectors?

New Denso injectors. looks legitimate in toyota packaging from ebay USA source. Old injectors had unknown milage as the odometers at 247k. suspected old injectors were leaking as my EGTs went up 200 degrees in normal slow driving with coolant temps not going above 180.

Just replaced new injector seat gaskets and theres still pinging and smoke. Bleeding the air out but afraid to drive it with the pinging. The pinging goes away when increasing throttle but causes lots of grey smoke.

Ah eBay. Red flag for anything to do with injectors. Can you share the link? Genuine Toyota injectors are about USD270 each from reputable non US sources, I would expect them to be at least that much in the US, probably more. (Genuine Denso branded injectors would be less). If your eBay bargains were much less than this, they are almost certainly counterfeit Chinese copies which are about 10 dollars each from Aliexpess.

I would take them to a local diesel shop and get the pop tested, very simple job.

There's really no need to replace an entire mechanical injector. Just buy new nozzles from a reputable supplier and have them fitted.

Heres the link. The packaging and the denso logo look legitimate but i suppose theres always the chance theyre not real

If you know of a reputable place to get genuine injectors please let me know, i dont have any diesel shops locally so it would be easier to just replace the entire injector, vehicles also my daily driver so theres that..

Absolutely fake, 100%. It even says 'For Toyota' and 'Unbranded', so they are not trying to hide it. Packaging clearly counterfeit.

I believe these are genuine Denso injectors, though I havenot used MagEngines, I regard them as a legitimate seller.

These, if available, are guaranteed to be genuine, 100%: Toyota 23600-69105 (2360069105) HOLDER & NOZZLE SET, NOZZLE - https://www.amayama.com/en/part/toyota/2360069105

Thanks for the confirmation
That is such a bummer, i had thought they were relatively low priced but couldnt find any cruiser dealer or any reputable place within the USA.
I bit the bullet and ordered direct from megazip. at $378 each from japan warehouse this makes much more sense. Also looking at product pictures the genuine seem to have a plastic cushion between the return gasket and the jam nut while every other sketchy seller with genuine toyota pictures does not.

Lesson learned about ebay garbage
