My surf has been down on power for sometime now ran fine then one day took it for a drive and it had a very noticeable decrease in power it struggles to stay at 100ks and takes about a minute to get to 100 have changed fuel filter checked for boost leaks turbos fine it gets to 11 psi I’m stumped on what it could be

Any other symptoms? Sound is normal? Exhaust color changes? Problem slowly got worse over long period or developed suddenly?

You might get more answers if you gave more details, and scattered a bit of punctuation in.

I'm assuming it's an auto, is it shifting normally? I would guess that it could be burnt capacitors in the ECU or issues with the EFI pump. That said, 1KZ problems often turn out to be a cracked head. Is it getting hot? Using coolant?

I would do the normal checks for a cracked head: check the oil and look for the signs of water and oil mixed. Check the bottom of the oil cap and see if it has signs of that milky water mix, etc. And start there.

Do you have an oil leak? Your turbo could need to be replaced or rebuilt...

Yes it’s auto shifts normal doesn’t get hot or use water apart from the massive decrease in power there’s nothing out or the ordinary happening do you know how I’d go about checking the capacitors in the ecu and checking efi pump

I’ll check that out now it does leak oil from the rear main but not from any of the turbo lines

EFI diesels are not my thing, but I would recommend searching how to check for error codes from the engine.

If it shifts normally, I would guess the culprit would be one of the EFI sensors but that's just a guess.

Just checked codes has code 14 timing control signal and code 22 coolant temp sensor

Mine didn't leak from oil lines, it leaked around the shaft. The turbo was shot and I needed to replace it.

fix the codes....
