after a chat with my turbo guy, the bearing type are for longevity for higher boost engines. if under 14 psi then the bushing is a fine setup. if above 14 psi then the bearing type will last 10 times as long and are about twice the price.VTCruiser said:ball bearing turbos are a newer technology. They are supposed to be lower friction for quicker spool and longer lasting than the traditional floating/bushing type.
u mean you have seen dort on the pipe intake? Thats weirf i dont see mine. mine is clean. You probably seen the one that they didnt put on the oil on the filter itself. or not enough of it.crushers said:sorry, each to thi own but after sing what kind of dirt is in the passageways when using a K&N i will pass...

bad_religion_au said:stasis, it might be that you can't see the particals. you could get an oil analysis done to see how much silica youmotor has eaten in the period of your last oil change... that would let you know if they are filtering as effectively.
turbo wise, i disagree that they should guard that secret... it's not like most turbo guru's couldn't walk in, pose as a customer, and look at the housing and at least get a real good idea of what their running.
for a customer, it is a good question to answer, because they can go ahead and research things like longevity of the turbo unit, servicability, price for rebuilds, and then decide if that's what they want.
Will chase down a lab to do the oil analysis. But ijsut change my oil about sad 4k ago. So i dont know how accurate it is.
For the turbo true they shouldnt guard it as a secret cos we need to know what the whack on onto our engine.
hahah i like the cane tos thingbigbrowndog said:RE the K& N, filters I have not seen a test done after the used filter has been washed and reused, compared to a new paper filter.LOL. I wonder why, same for king dragon and the rest. This has been an ongoing arguement on the performance V8 forums for years. Isn't it strange that the blokes who claim the biggest performance gains are those who have a stock well worn motor,![]()
never thought to change the filter before
.Wonder why it sounded like Mums vacuum cleaner trying to suck in a canetoad.
