once the test fitting is completed then the front flip modification is built with 1/4" clearence...
then a drive to the local hinge and plate supplier for an indepth search for the proper latching system for the rear.

then on to other things...

a quick fit of the Vintage air AC unit... the nice thing about this system is it gets rid of the blower from under the hood which is where the batteries will be located.
it also removes the front heating system and will give a bit more room around the dash area.

the powder coated rear diff housing and associated parts are back as well as the new parts for the rebuild...

IMG_2303.webp

in hind sight i would have assembled the e/brake onto the backing plate and then the completed unit onto the housing...
no biggie either way.

as preventivie maintainence i always take apart the tower, clean, repaint, grease the pivot point and reinstall boot.
this area is prone to corrosion between the 2 dissimilar metals causing the e/brake to stick or be sticky.
the water resistant grease helps to prevent this from happening.

the rear springs installed on the tower
the hub installed
when installing the small axle seal i remove the retaining spring and use the proper sized socket to install the seal smoothly and safely (they damage VERY easily) and once installed i reinstall the retaining spring.

overview of the hub assembly and ebrake assembly.
housing sitting back on the springs with the proper spacing for the spring perches, disc calipers, etc

more shots of the location of the axle...
now remember this axle housing is 2" wider than the old 40 series so this makes the rear axle only 1/4" smaller than the frotn one, the tracking will be almost dead on.

RS9000 shocks installed, i do not like the shocks that come with the kit since theya re shorter than the droop of the suspension.
these are much better quality but the cost prevents most from going this route.

installation of the powder coated mid section and rear section of the exhaust
note the t/case skid plate also protects the resonator as well.

temporary mounting of the side bar mounts...
schedual 40 bars are being installed instead of the side steps, these will incorporate expanded steel tops for slip prevention as well as a place to clean your boots before getting into the vehicle. these will be powder coated to match the rest of the truck.

hand formed rear brake line
60 series water seperator to clear any contaminates before hitting the fuel feed pump, this will have a warning light mounted to the dash.
the 12V feeder pump which supplies pressurized fuel to the injection pump, the improves starts and acceleration...

well guys, that is it for now...

more to come.... sometime....
