Was chatting to a mate that used to fit a lot of turbos. His hot tip was to fit 1HD-T injector lines to your 1HZ when you turbo it as apparently they are a larger diameter line and flow more than the 1HZ ones. I did a quick search on the subject but couldn't find anything. Does anybody have any experience with this mod? Is it worth it? I know the 1HD-Ts are direct injected but he assured me they still bolt up.

I thought the injectors were different between the 2 engines so wouldn't that make it a bit difficult to just do a straight swap?

I tought the same thing but he reckons that the nuts on the ends of the lines are the same and the shape/routing of the lines is the same too. He reckons he's done heaps of them, I just want to know if the swap makes enough difference to justify the cost/hassle of doing it.

I had a look in the Gregorys 513 diesel manual on pages 85-90 which looks like the 1HZ lines angle down to meet the injector while the 1HDT lines seem to meet the injector horizontally.

For the lines to be interchangeable ,the injectors must sit in the head at a greatly different angle.

When I have these doubts I find a caryard with lots of toyota diesels to compare:D

If they did fit and could deliver more fuel to the injectors would the injectors need work to allow extra fuel to flow through. I thought they we set to a spray pattern. Would they allow the extra volume.

We've got 1HD-FTE cruisers at work that I could check the angle on but these are 24 valve compared to the 1HD-T 12 valve so they're probably different again.

According to my mate (who was full of Bundy Rum at the time) the lines do fit but I want to find out if they do from an independant source before I order a set from Toyota.

Apparently the larger diameter lines provide less of a flow resriction at higher revs. Would probably need a dyno tune afterwards to optimize the mod.

I just want to know if they fit. Will probably sneak a look under the bonnet at a car yard on the weekend to satisfy my curiosity.

I would ask a diesel shop if will make any difference at all 1st. The 1HDT injector lines will be pricey from Toyota. The 1HZ lines cost me $100 used from a wrecker.
Toyota should be able to tell you if the lines are the same angle

Isn't it possible to simply visit the nearest Toyota dealer, ask for both parts and inspect them ?

Crock.

The tubes are a stunningly different shape but they are the same diameter. So they will not just bolt on and they will flow no extra fuel.

Come on guys think about these things! Explain to me how it would flow more fuel without changing the pump somehow.
