The Moroso 85474 is an awesome unit with a drain and baffles/ mesh.

Vortex type seperators work better than baffles/mesh.

But it's far better to do the seperation inside the engine than outside.

hey all, this thread is oldish, but I thought I could add some info
I installed the provent200 a year or so ago, and never plumbed the oil output anywhere, just drain it to the frame rail /ground/ undercarriage, rear axle housing.

Really?! I thought you were a nature-loving hippie Steve!

1997 HDJ80, 1HD-FT1: After blocking the EGR valves I have an oil leak from one of the valves (haven't used a 100% gasket, just metal plates). I am not sure how much of a leak here would be considered normal? It is quite soaked and it almost drips from the screw at the bottom of the EGR. I have no noticeable oil consumption at current and engine sounds OK. I am worried about a turbo that is about to fail and will check axle play in the turbo in the near future.
There is no blow by pulsing out of the oil cap when I remove it, yet the rocker cover gasket seems to leak a bit and there area at the breather pipe on the rocker cover looks like it's leaking a bit. Dunno if there is a conection somehow with the leaking in the EGR?

I know it's hard to quantify, but how much oil would be normal to circulate in the pipes and is it normal that it would end up in the EGR pipes?

Greetings! I have a 1995 HDJ 80 with a 1HD-FT engine in it (24 valve turbo diesel). The issue is oil in the intake. I'm getting excess oil from the valve cover breather tube, which is then going into the intake and then working its way through some of the vacuum lines and making a mess on the valve cover. The intake is also full of oily soot courtesy the EGR valve and excess oil.

Anyway, the main question, any thoughts on what's causing the excess oil from the breather tube and how do I fix it?

Thanks!
J

Disconnect the vacume line the comes from the egr into the intake that is the simplest way leave all the electrical stuff plugged in otherwise you can end up with grumpy lectronics. I have taken the entire system off got new intake part from non egr blocked the manifold exit. but had to reattach the electronics as we were having tuning problems. Hope that makes sense
