1FZ powa

I'm getting ready to build a hi-po 1FZ and found this turbo build-up... dyno and 1/4 mile numbers will be interesting when published.

Cool, but why? A 1JZ or 2JZ will make 1000 hp reliably. I would be very suprised if a 1FZ-fe could do that. There certainly isn't the aftermarket support that the Supra engines have.

Why? Why not? A JZ engine producing 1000hp probably won't be the most streetable engine... they're everywhere, too. The big over square 4.5 could probably produce some thumping power with fat torque curve.

By 'everywhere' I meant the JZ (yes Supra) has been tuned to death... they are not comon, but not so elusive you'll never find one. Autotrader.com has almost 200 of them listed right now... probably just a tiny sample of what is out there.

There's always a few importers on eBay with some listed. Yes it's been done, but they are streetable with huge HP and there is a lot to be said for being able to get tuner parts rather than having to make everything.

It would be like putting a Lexus V-8 in a 40 series. It would be really cool, but expensive and everything would be one-off. A Chebbie makes good power and you can get a water pump at K-mart.

The good news for us is he's going to do all that research for his kinda silly project and it will be relevant for building a 1FZE in a cruzah.

Yea, I was lookin at the supra's and you can find 4th gens quite easily but the problem is they've all been tuned to death, and if your trying to find a nice stock clean one, its hard a h-e- double hockey sticks. But if you were to do up a toyota engine, that'd be the one i'd pick for gobs of hp's and torque.
