Has anyone here installed the manual trans flywheel in their trucks? I’m looking at the FSM and it states 14 ft lbs and then an additional 90 degrees. I had a put a LOT of force on the bolts to even get to 45 degrees... anyone actually get to 90 degrees on theirs?

Are you using new bolts? Usually when it's torque and then angle, that means the bolts are made to stretch and are one time use.

are you talking about the flywheel to crank bolts or the pressure plate to flywheel bolts. if its flywheel to crank that seems like way to low of a torque value, on the a/t trucks its 74 for those bolts with no additional turns.

fwiw I have never seen torque to yeld bolts used with either a clutch for a manual or with a torque converter for an auto

I finally figured it out. The FSM has a minimum thickness for the bolts and I was well above it so no need for new bolts on my truck...

The FSM says to apply engine oil to threads and bolt head which enabled me to torque to 90 degrees which sure felt like I was yielding the bolts. Took a lot of force.

Seems like a dumb question seeming i have had no trouble getting a single other part number...did you use the same hardware that goes in the flexplate, or did you get a different part? im struggling to find the part number for the flex plate x crankshaft hardware

Not sure which bolt you are after.

Flywheel?

Or flexplate?

How about getting those drive plate setting bolts off - I have 4 cranky bolts - Trying to keep the engine from turning while I try to get them loose... (Engine is out of the truck)

Impact gun, or you can get a flywheel holding tool that bolts to the block and has teeth that mesh with the ring gear on the flex plate. But I have also put a socket with a pry bar wedged against the ground or engine stand on the crank pulley bolt to hold it. Any number of ways, get creative and don’t round those heads

Accidently did a little of exactly that with a 12 pt impact wrench....

This guy always works for my pesky bolts
