has anyone used these cams? i saw them on summit racing and was considering buying them...are they any good?

First I have heard of any cam options for our motors. Do they have any specs? How do they compare to the specs of the stock cams? I believe a set of cams would really wake our motors up. We have plenty of fuel, we need more air to take advantage of that.

Link?

All I could find were some bearing (main/rod) through Summit.

I did find this. I never knew they existed.

YA GO TO SUMMMIT racing.com and look it up by vehicle...they should pop up

Since I'm having my engine rebuilt I've done a heap of research into changing cams - mainly to get it to breath even better with the turbo bolted on. Basically, whatever cam you upgrade to will increase top end performance at the expense of low end torque.

Obviously, from a 4WDing perspective, you really do want that low down grunt and the factory Toyota cams are the best cams for the job.

I was looking at the aftermarket Kelsford cams they recommend for turbo charged engines. Turns out they are the ones the guys use in the UAE on their 8000rpm+ sand dune engines - great for that kind of work but crap for a daily driver.

In the end, I just got the machine shop to do a 30deg back-cut of the valve. Normally they are cut at 45deg and, if you do a Google search on the subject, you'll find this extra 15deg shallower cut allows for a fair bit more air to get past the valves. The improvements are more noticeable on the inlet valves but the exhaust valves also benefit. The bonus is, it costs bugger all extra to get done.

Not sure what your trying to achieve over all but, before I pulled my 1FZFE engine, I had a set of Pacemaker extractors, full 2.5in system and a dyno tuned Unichip fitted. It went heaps better after that.

cams can add torque as well, it all depends on how they are ground...lift, duration etc...

would love to know the lift and duration of this cam, sounds interesting and looks expensive!

However, they can regrind our oem camshafts:

CAMSHAFT REGRINDS

If you’re lacking performance, send Crower your used or damaged
camshaft for complete lobe analysis and regrinding or repair. Cams will
be straightened and then checked-out (sample shown above) to establish
original specs. A Crower technician will analyze all of the data and, based
on your performance parameters, regrind your cam to desired specs.
