perfect! thats what I wanted to hear.... it also looks like my upper arch seal is leaking.... and my power steering system is leaking.... that last ice breaking adventure was expensive

Make sure you have a good jack. Which can secure it well.

well tcase is out and torn apart, I couldnt imagine trying to do the gears in place, like wowsers

One broken bolt that spun the head off, Ill tackle that tomorrow with some kroil and heat to get it out of the trans to tcase adapter
Inside the tcase is beatiful, im trying to talk myself into doing a Part time kit, but not sure I want to shell out the 1400 bucks itll cost me as the exchange it horrible......

hopefully my low range gears show up and than ill drop the pieces off for the press work

I have been trying to decide if I want to part time it while I can, and ive ultimately decided. If i do, Ill do it another time, its not that much of pain in the ass and I feel the 1400 cad itll cost can be budgeted into other items atm

I clearanced the case, today and test fitted, everything fits like butter, tomorrow I get the last bearings to replace along with repressing the front snout as I kind of screwed up hahahahaha

on the last picture, I had to clearance more, ill take a couple pictures tomorrow to show what I had to clearance, as everything I found picture wise sucked for detail on that part

Some mental nutcase assistent

some lessons ive learned about the cruiser fzj80 tcase, it is much easier to remove lowering the tranny cross member to almost off, as you can now access the top top bolts on the top with a 1/2" socket driver versus a 3/8". Have an extra set of hands, it makes life WAYYYYY easier hahaha, a tranny jack does not work all that well for the reinstallation, but perfect for lowering

have patience when removing the electrical connections, , its honestly probably best if you disconnect at the firewall and transmission as than you wont risk breaking anything

tools to have, lock ring pliers are a must, own a good flap disk angle grinding disk and than ensure you own a dremel and buy a few cutting disks, it made nice easy quick work of the metal shieding

buy all the seals you can and replace your output bearings while your at it, as really only is a pain in the ass

Ive just topped my fluid up a quart of royal purple 75 - 140 for now as they didnt have any 90 in stock, and a little more than 3/4 of a quart of lucas sythetic oil stabilizer - most if not all race trucks run this mix and swear by it, so Ill keep everyone in the loop!

overall this job would be much easier on the bench, IMO just pull the whole tcase its much easier than trying to split it under the truck

well after 27 months of ownership

I think I have finally got this thing mechanically where it needs to be, tonight was the first time I was able to drive it with 100% confidence that it is mechanically sound! Its been an uphill battle since day 1, this beast has never seen so much love in its 18 years of life!

Since spring I have regeared, rebuilt my axles, rebuilt the tcase, flushed every system of their old crudy fluids, I have performed a full fuel system service with new injectors, filters fpr damper etc.... Tonight I found my wander and it drives like it should!

I am now confident that I can move on to the last couple items before really I may be ultimately "modded out"

as this point in the time the mods are not limited to

5.29 Diff Gears
3.11 to 1 Marlin T-Case Gears
AOE front bumper with smittybuilt 12k X2O winch and a pair of Lightforce 240's
Sean Huston Custom Fab Rear Bumper
OME J spring and shocks
Metaltech front sway bar extensions
Landtank rear extensions
TR HD Beadlocks wrapped in 37" GY MTR's
Landtank Blue Clutch Fan
EMS Powered Exhaust system (yup im a unicorn that actually got their order)
Poor Mans Hazard Switch CDL switch
Cruisin Offroad T-case andf Trans Skids
4x Innovations Sliders
Corbeau Racing Seats

Im sure im missing something but I think I can focus on storage, and finally some body work, I have a couple small suspension items I want like King Shocks with dampner adjustment dials and I need to get my Castor Plates in versus the bushings!

But you know i've sat and himmed and hawed about changing out to a complete different rig, but I think I nailed it, I legitimately fell into my love my rig tonight versus hating it

yah we can talk at that point, Im probably a march/april purchase :D

well two trips in before the new year over 1000 km of on road and 300+ km of offroad since sunday, I swapped over my power steering to my toyota pump with new seals and new toyota koyo bearing! what a world of a difference

has anyone rebuilt a reman pump with toyota parts and bearings and have it last?? I want a spare for moab im thinking

now I can focus on the little things seeing as my majors seems to be complete
steering upgraded to 1 ton components using EMF ends, and pull off a hydro assist
storage set-up for the rear
body work, body work, body work
dual and third battery set-up
air compressors installed
air lines ran front and rear
re do my sliders and move the one leg to accommodate for the skid plates from Cruisin as they dont perfectly line up
monstaline the entire vehicles
fix my radio set-ups!

Do projects ever end???

and another victim falls to the infamous knuckle studs.... had to rob peter to pay paul to get it off the trail, drivers side had 4 studs still, so I drove out on 2 on the driver, 2 on the passenger....

once someone posts some pictures ill post em up

anyone have pictures of hydro assist on a factory setup???

well im removing the roof top tent for good ! hahaha well atleast for this trip
ordered some parts to re use the cargo rack to my tundra so I can leave the tundra as a hauler/camp now just to fix my roof top tent cover..... and air the damn thing out
