When I drive my 1997 80 within 1/4 mile of leaving my driveway I feel like the LC is not getting any gas it almost stalls. If I floor it it starts to act fine. It only does it when I first start driving. Any clues?

Cracked rubber intake hose
Check the rubber pipe for cracks especially around the ribs of the pipe on the underside of it

When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

More information would really assist in the diagnosis.

I just bought it about 2 weeks ago I have no clue the odom reads 160K. According to the previous owner who I believe because he was about 70 years old he had the engine rebuilt at about 125k. It has been sitting for about 8 months he could not drive anymore

Pete tell me more info that would be helpful. This is my first 80. Like I said it will only do it once when the engine is cold after it does it once it is good to go. Seems like the engine is just not getting gas. I have to floor it to make it go once it does I don't have the problem til the next day or after it has been sitting for more than 5-6 hours

Well the other guys posted up some good suggestions. I would search what they suggested and take some time reading through the FAQs. I would also look into getting an FSM for your year of TLC.

As for the problem...it sounds like it could be a clogged fuel filter, as someone else suggested. But I would also take a very close look at the intake tube as kidglove13 mentioned previously as this can reek havoc on things.

Do you have a CEL? If so, you need to get the codes pulled.

If you have a fuzzy service history, and it sounds like you do, then it would be wise to perform a baseline tune-up on the truck. Again a search will point you in the direction of what that includes.

Good luck. With some effort you will have it fixed in no time at all.

Have you washed the engine recently, or driven through water? Check dizzy and spark plug tubes.

Check the main engine wiring harness for burn through (next to the EGR pipe).

x10 on needing more information.
