Hey guys,

Just wanted to share a few pics of my new truck. I bid on multiple LandCruisers in Japan, probably a dozen or more of them however i was outbid every time. Finally i decided to bid on this black one. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived and i walked around. No rust! not a single bubble. The body is in great shape. Engine is in great shape. Its got 197,000 km on it. Its lifted with 33's on it.

There are a few issued i found out soon after getting it inspected and on the road. Issues that SHOULD have been caught by the inspection and alignment facility.

Needs brakes
less than 1 degree of caster (death wobble)
Steering damper is toast. (death wobble)
Rt Front hub is stuck engaged.
Transfer case is stuck in 4WD
a few other electrical issues like the e-brake light doesn't work.

So i have had this thing for about 2 months now and So far i have fixed almost everything except the front hub and the e-brake light. The transfer case had a bad vacuum solenoid. Steve at EBI helped me out.

Nice truck. Try Radd Cruisers for a set of manual conversion adapters to swap out your hubs to Aisin manual locking hubs. It's on my list of stuff to do eventually too. I am not sure if the electric Toyota hubs are garbage or guys don't like them because of the possibility of being stranded without 4 wheel drive. Since mine are working great, its way down the list. Another issue is that the nice front knuckle kit that Terrain Tamer sells won't work.

Here is a link to the adapters that Radd sells. Not sure if he has any in stock, but worth a shot. Personally I would go and source the parts off of a 60 series from the spindle out to the hub and swap it that way. Then the Terrain Tamer knuckle kit will work.

Electric Hubs to Manual Hub Adapters

Ohhhh- that's a good looking rig! Did you buy direct from an auction?

Excited to see another 77! A lot of the Japanese fellows convert to manual hubs and cable lockers. Jump on yahoo auction to find parts of so inclined.

Drivemedic - I would really like to get a set of lockers as mine didn't come with them. on my list of parts.

NLScooby - I personally searched the auctions and chose which ones to bid on and how high to bid. I then used pacific coast auto imports to do all the stuff that needed to be done in japan. Great experience. Once the car was in Canada, I self cleared and handled the paperwork myself.

Broth9640 - Thanks for all the replies regarding the electric hubs! I am going to try to fix the one hub first but if that's unsuccessful i will do the hub swap and run aisin manual hubs for sure!

I am currently building a set of drawers for it. I drew the plans up using a free vector program called inkscape. I cut them out using the shopbot CNC router. In the process of carpeting.

I was wondering why the stereo sounds like s***. pulled the rear trim panels off to discover these old speakers. I decided to put in some 6x9's and in order to do that i had to reinforce the trim panel. i peeled off all the upholstery and traced the "cardboard" OEM panels on to some 1/4" ply. Then i glued/stapled the original fabric to the new wood backing and cut out the hole for the 6x9. I couldn't re use the plastic clips so i used a threadsetter and installed a bunch of m6x1.0 nutserts and used some m6 bolts to securely fasten the trim. I have no idea why the image host keeps rotating the pictures 90 degrees. its getting annoying! tilt your head sideways lol

Would you mind posting the diagram of your drawer build once its complete. I'm sure the 4 or 7 of us 77 guys would like to check it out.
