Folks - I just posted my first thread over on the parting out page. I have a FZJ80, with 97% of necessary parts. Bottom line, I was intending to project this car, but don't have the time now and don't foresee when I will. Need to go 1 of 3 routes - 1) Part it out (least desirable to me, as it ran when I pulled it off the tow truck 4 years ago), 2) Sell as-is with all the parts I have accumulated, or 3) Find a local shop, or potentially an individual, who I can pay to get it functional again, which allows me to tinker with the "easier" stuff. The engine was rebuilt with Toyota parts about 3 weeks before a Camaro hit it in Maryland. Again, it fired right up and was able to drive it on the tow truck and off it about 4 years ago. Other than the trans cooler line that had sprung a leak, it was running fine.

Any recommendations on shops or reputable individuals to repair? I just posted a thread with some details and photos, but it's on hold until approved. Hit me up with any information I have forgotten or would need for recommendations. I am located just outside Leesburg, VA, in Paeonian Springs, VA.

If you do end up parting it out, i'd buy the steering box/pitman arm from you. Not sure on shop recommendations though if you end up wanting to get it back on the road

There are a few shops in Fredrick, LandCrusier Heaven...but it won't be cheap. There is another place that I see on Bring a trailer that fixes up FJ80s too...ill forward the info if I find it.

PRICE?

Not to Nay-Say, but I'd part or just sell off whole...it would honestly cost a fortune to make it road ready again if you are paying a shop at today's labor rates for both body and mechanical work. Looks like a solid base for someone that has time, tools, and knowledge, but a nightmare money pit for one that just wants a drivable/reliable rig again and needs to pay to have it done by someone else.

Sell this one off and take the money + the $10k+ that you would spend on this to get it going and get something that you can start to enjoy immediately....just my $.02 since you asked.

If Rob isn’t interested in it, let me know. I’m trying to fill a barn with cruisers 🫣
I will bow out and let the gentleman from Harrisonburg have a new toy.
