gorgeous! maybe i missed it, but reason for sale? why? such a sweet rig with low k's with all the rare bells n whistles and ready to hit the trails!
Reason for selling - I have a swank HZJ77 as well and my wife seems - rather absurdly :crybaby:- to think that two cruisers is one cruiser too many. Would keep the 73 over the 77 as it's substantially more enjoyable to drive on the trails but my wife, three kids and dog don't fit so well. Oh well, the 77 is turbo'd

those are good enough reasons i guess, for the wife! man, oh man, would i love to have that 73! but with the 40 as the project/wheelin rig and the 80 for dd duties, just no friggin way, lol.
g'luck with the sale!

Nobody interested? $15k is one hell of a steal for this truck. If your looking for a 73 you won't do any better - anywhere. I can arrange long term storage if anyone South of the border wants to make a move.

It's probably not lack of interest that is preventing U.S. residents by buying yours or other nice Cruisers residing in Canada. Sending large sums of money north for a vehicle you will only see on a postcard update for the next several years is a hard pill to swallow. :D
Certainly not your fault but that is the reality of the stupid U.S. import laws.

it's the market right now ... sad but true.
i watched a REALLY nice PZJ77 up forsale a while back. the bloke bought it for $33K (ball bearing turbo, factory e/lockers, 45K, ARB this and that, roof rack, lift, etc etc) sold it for $14K last year.
sit on it, drive it in the summer and enjoy it. sell it when the market picks up again.

It's a "no win situation" for both the seller and the buyer. The Canadian market wil not support the higher prices where the Cruiser is legal to own however the U.S. market will ( supply and demand theory ). A good 70 Series will easily command prices in the low to mid $20,s. ( there was a HZJ77 recently on EBay that was listed for $30,500 ) .... It sold.
If there was ANYWAY "gofast's" HZJ73 could be legally obtained it would be setting in my garage at this very moment. I am equally confident the Cruiser featured in this thread would also be residing in the U.S. :)

strip it right down and ship the parts over, rebuild as a home built.

There are a few States where that would work, mine not being one of them. Your reccomendation would also add substantial cost to an already expensive vehicle.
We just have to suck it up and wait. :)

hey, he didn't ask if it was reasonable or cheap. he asked can it be done.
originaly i had post "nope" but then if there is a will there is a way.
strip
ship
reassemble in a State that allows it
reregister in home state.

me
become a Canadian resident
move up
buy
move home and drive till caught
plead ignorance
watch it being crushed
go have a beer, then another to drown my sorrows, go home, wife pics a fight
now no truck, no wife, no house

not worth it.

"Plead ignorance" ......... That has served me well throughout my years :) and I thought all yanks were already "honorary" Canadian citizens.

Wow, this has been sitting here for quite a while and then someone posted a link from the 70 series section:

This vehicle is priced well below it's market value to import one from Japan and fix it up like this, so it's a bit of a steal for anyone that wants it and can afford it.
