Can't wait to see the finished product. I am going to visit an upholstery shop this week to see about new seat covers, I can't afford $1200 for leather thinking of going with a neoprene cover.

I have heard a lot of good things about neoprene. I am sure you will be just as happy with them. Maybe even more so with a handful of greenbacks that you saved. ;)

I finally gave up trying to buy a new car, because nothing compared to my 1993 for reasonable coin. So, after Texican replaced my power steering pump, and I had some gaskets replaced to stem the oil leaks, I got my seats rehabbed.

Gary (Powerplay) gave me a seat he did not need some years ago, so the back of it (passenger front) was fine. Seat bottom suffered with water and sun damage. I had a shop re-manufacture the front two seat bottoms and driver's seat back, and the center armrest top. I had them do it in vinyl, and it looks stock. Leather would be about twice as much and could not look better. Straight stitching too.

Cost was about $611 for the three seat sections - I am good for another fifteen years. West Side Trim, on White Settlement Road, in Fort Worth. 817-334-0090 They took the seats apart and used the parts for a pattern and recreated the seat perfectly. Those things are an engineering challenge, with loops, wire support and suspension connectors, three or four different types of padding. Not for an amateur like me, for sure.

Jared,
is that your seats with perforated leather?

how much, and who?

Yes Brett, those are mine. I went with the two tone with perforated leather in the middle. My thinking was that it would help some with the Texas heat, I'll find out soon. I love the color combo though, I think it looks even better in person. I used RC Upholstery because his prices are low. He did an OK job. At first it was all screwed up because he mis-understood what I wanted because he doesn't know English well but he made it right. He does use quality hides though. The price was $1100 for the leather, but I also bought front seat cushions ($143 each) from Cdan. So the grand total was around $1400. It would be less if you get vinyl or something but I wanted real leather. I had to do it because my wife DD our 80 and I want her to have a nice interior since I sold her car to buy the 80, lol. If I had to do it again, I would order the kit from Atlas and pay a shop to install it. I went with RC because it was cheap and easy. I hope Atlas is still making covers in 7-10 yrs when I will need new leather again.
